New LED Floodlights installed

Finally, Simon has installed the 30W LEDfloodlights in place of the 70W Sodium floodlights that were installed. They look great and actually provide a little more light than the previous floodlights – we need to figure out if we want to replace the light sensor with the infrared detectors to only pop the lights on when there is movement in the front garden.

At just 60W, it might be simpler to leave the lights on at all times when it is dark outside in honesty….

We have also installed a couple of double power sockets with USB chargers today – one in the Snug and one in Elly’s bedroom.

Another productive day :-)

The ivy has now been removed from the side of the house and is bagged up, ready to head to a recycle centre on Friday 👍

We have also taken Hugo for a nice 4K walk – it feels so much longer when the wind is driving and you are needing wellies through mud and the trees etc – will need to find a longer trek although we also don’t need him to get used to that length of walks every day….

The Christmas tree has been cut up and burned πŸ™‚

We even managed to get down to Grandmas to get a parcel sticker for the Tippy that was too small and it is now on its way back to its supplier and a bigger one is on its way here on Thursday – big thanks to Grandma and Grandad for sorting it for us – it will make a huge positive difference when it comes to getting the ash out of the lounge πŸ™‚

We are EATING through wood in the burner today – the Christmas tree has left plenty of sap on the glass so (as per the recommendation of the chimney sweep) we just need to ensure that the whole system gets plenty of burn for the rest of the day to ensure none of the tar sticks to the pipes πŸ™‚

Simon has also figured out how to get the TV in he ensuite out and has contacted the manufacturer for information about the symptoms. Already has a response and basically it needs a new power supply and the DVB tuner appears to be dead – so it can be resurrected but ideally needs replacing – at Β£700 it can wait as it is hardly a pressing need for TV while sat in the tub etc.

We need to sort the alarm system and a safe first πŸ™‚

Oh and finally, we arranged two holidays last night so have a Portugal break planned for the start of the summer holidays, a CenterParcs trip for Bonfire night and are looking to sort a break down to Devon/Cornwall at the end of the summer holiday – #Winning

Cracking start to 2017

We have had a couple of great days already this year πŸ™‚

Yesterday we went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with the Drewett’s and the Box’s for a lovely walk around. The weather just held out for us – it rained all morning and stopped just 30 minutes before we needed to go 👍

Today has been lovely and peaceful iced to Grandma’s just before lunch after dropping a pile of cardboard at the recycle centre and some glass bottles at the Flockton recycle centre (Kirklees don’t seem to recycle glass bottles with the main recycling stuff so we will need to get used to doing it manually).

Then back home to wait for a chimney sweep named Martin to come by and sweep the main chimney stack – he was a lovely character with lots of stories and great information to tell us about our burner and how best to use it etc.

We also had a pack of 6 or more dogs running through the back garden – when we went out to investigate, it seems that it was a pack of dogs that were part of a fox hunt – never witnessed anything quite like that before – part of countryside living πŸ™‚

Great to have the fire back in operation and have been given e green light to use the smokeless oval logs to keep the thing going through the night as well as the green light to burn the Christmas tree in the unit – accordingly burning items like the tree every once in a while will not cause problems – so Simon will be cutting the tree up tomorrow in preparation πŸ™‚
