Great weekend but now it is DARK at 5pm…. :-(

The boys spent the weekend over in Halifax at Grannie Cuckoo’s – well until Sunday morning that is as they had a birthday arty to attend in Denby Dale.

Mummy and Daddy were out on Friday night at their favourite restaurant (The Hepworth near Holmfirth) and they were not let down – the usual high quality service and food was delivered – and a pianist in the bar to boot 🙂  The good news is that we are heading back for another meal there in under a month 🙂

Then on Saturday night it was Sheffield’s Motor Point arena again, only this time with David and Julie to see John Bishop’s show.  We had a nice meal in Pizza Express before heading in – the delay in getting food to the table meant that more beer was consumed than ideally should have been – thus Simon was not feeling that cleve by the time the night was coming to a close.  A trip to McDonalds helped apparently :-s

This weekend was the end of the summer as far as the clocks are concerned, so we all enjoyed an additional hour in bed – hence it is now lighter in the mornings BUT darker in the evenings.  So, as I look out of the office window, it has been dark for the last 20 or 30 minutes now 🙁

Also, the COLD weather has really picked it up a notch over the last week or so – we are now almost at scraping windscreens in the mornings and the house definitely is feeling very cold during the nights.  The thicker duvets will more than likely be making an appearance in our rooms very soon…

Great weekend in the Lakes

We have just got home from a fab weekend in the Lakes – the weather was absolutely stunning – perhaps the last good weather weekend of the year maybe??

Brockhole – TreeTop Trek – October 2012

Check out the above video (20Mb – as a note this is an M4V file hidden as an AVI to make it stream OK – would not play as native m4v for some reason :-() for quick action shots from the TreeTop Trek setup in Brockhole Visitor Centre – it is really cool but slightly expensive to ride – i.e. £26 for the full gig just felt like a lot of cash….

We have of course grabbed a few packs of Gingerbread from Grasmere GingerBread and as alway are wondering why we do not go more often.  If only we had more time and less Children’s Birthday Parties 🙂

Windermere with the Box’s

This weekend we are enjoying life up in the lakes. We set off yesterday morning once we were all up and ready. Mummy had been out at a charity do with the mums from school on Friday and daddy and the boys got an early night in 🙂

We got here for about 1pm and had lunch at the Sun Hotel with the Box’s. Then we head over to Brockholes for a couple of hours and then on to a play park in Grasmere (will be heading back for some Gingerbread on Monday prior to heading home 🙂 )

The weather has been nice with lots of sunshine – although it is v clear that it has done a LOT of raining in recent days / weeks – ground v waterlogged…

The air is (as usual) wonderfully fresh and we are hoping to enjoy a full day out in it today, then head homeward tomorrow afternoon sometime 🙂

Harvest Festival, Pepsi has been signed off by the vet and Olly still unwell :-(

This morning we had a treat in store for us as it was the Silcoates Junior School Harvest Festival assembly in the school chapel.  The children brought their baskets of fresh produce (from Year 1) into the chapel and placed them at the front.  Then we were treated to a wonderful show with signing from each of the years, a little story along the way from the year 6 children and a couple of hymns thrown in for good measure.

Then, we had to take Pepsi in for another checkup at the VET.  Mr Duncan was very pleased with his recovery so has effectively signed him off and he returns to the usual painkillers with no additional goodies.  So, hopefully the whining will now stop – he has whinged on and off for the last week or so – we believe because he did not want the bandage around his chest and back (holding the two skin attached pain relief suppliers on).  Tim took it off before we went in to see the VET and it seemed that the whinging almost completely stopped upon its’ removal.  We just need to (clearly) keep an eye (or ear) on him to see how he gets on without the additional powerful pain killers….

Then onto Olly – poor little mite is just not getting any better it seems.  He has slept for a couple of hours again this afternoon.  He has absolutely been knocked off his feet for a week now 🙁  It looks to stay this way for a coupe more days sadly so he is not going to school – I don’t think he would make it through a day at school right now.  He is playing the I’m too poorly to eat / walk / go to the toilet by myself.  Hopefully he will be better in the morning and so on.  Keep your fingers crossed for us 🙂
