Last post of 2012 – day out in Bridlington yesterday

This is to be the last post of 2012 – my how the year has FLOWN by…

Yesterday, we nipped over to Bridlington to spend the day with Cayton, Paula and Richard.  Thankfully Oliver was feeling quite a bit better (although still needed Calpol etc to keep him going) so we decided that it was going to be a trip that we could make.  We spend an hour or so on the beach in the rain and wind – it was most definitely cold, but the boys really enjoyed it – shame daddy didn’t enjoy it so much and wittered on about sand in his car… 🙁

SAM_7120SAM_7127We then head over to an indoor play centre right next door to the John Bull Rock factory – shame there were no tours going on – would have loved to have done that – daddy did one 30 or so years ago and every time we pass the place (on the way into Bridlington from York) he tells us all about it – dull really 🙁

Then over to the fish and chip shop for tea (when in Rome….) before an hour or so back at their place prior to heading back over to Ossett.

A great day out all in all, ended with Olly screaming in the car for the last 5 to 10 minutes as he awoke by his movement sensor (car stopped at the motorway roundabout at the Ossett / Wakefield junction).  Mummy then had to struggle to get him ready for and then into bed…

Poorly Olly, poorly Daddy

Poor Olly had a harsh night last night with around 24 hours of 39C + fever ending in his lying in bed in just his underpants to stay cool.  Thankfully the Calpol and Ibruprofen seem to have finally managed to get a hold of the temperature for him (although it took until 9am this morning (from yesterday morning) to do so 🙁  However, he got the sweats as he lay in bed last night and had soaked mummy’s side of the bed nicely for her 🙁

Daddy has also picked up a cold from somewhere and had a sub-optimal night, however feels a lot better today and is looking forward to spending the day in the house in tracksuits with the boys 🙂  Elly is on top form and wants to fight – he seems to just want to do lots of battles at the moment – hence he loved it in Halifax as he was able to go into battle with Uncle Dan.

We are bitterly disappointed that we were unable to stay at Great Grandma’s last night, but it was unquestionably the right decision to bring him home late last night.  We are just debating on whether to take him to the walk in centre this afternoon, or wait until later on / tomorrow morning.  Gut feel suggests that they would think we were wasting their time given it has only been 36 hours and is now under control, but we feel that we need his notes to have listed that we visited given his history….

Up to Newcastle to be ill and go home …

This morning we drive to Newcastle to have a sleepover at Great Grandmas. It too three hours to get here nearly because of flooding on the A1 at Catterick 🙁 Anyway, a the afternoon has progressed, poor Olly’s fever has got worse and the Calpol / Ibruprofen seems unable to control it as well as we would like.

So, sadly we are going to head home tonight so that we can get to re drop in Doctor tomorrow to have him checked out – this time around there seems to be no swelling in his throat.

Danger – shopping visit to Oliver Sweeney

Daddy took his gloves (Christmas Gift from Grandma and Grandad) to the Oliver Sweeney store today as they are a size too big but also don’t work a advertised – super special black leather gloves that can actually control touch screen phones etc – well excepting that these ones did not work.

So, now daddy is in possession of a pair that work effortlessly with the phone / iPad but also a couple of me pairs of shoes, a new coat and a belt…. 🙂 whoops

We now need to make a trip for mummy to do a little shopping to level out the balance a tad 🙂

Tomorrow we are heading north to Cramlington to visit Great Grandma and will be staying overnight. Then we will be visiting a few others on Saturday before heading back south again.

Then on Sunday, we are heading out to Bridlington for the day to see Paula, Rich and Cayton where we might get in a pantomime.

Busy few days 🙂

Boxing Day in Halifax

We went over to Halifax for lunch etc at Granny Cuckoos 🙂

The boys were spoiled as F.C. had delivered many goodies over there as well 🙂

Oliver wanted to leave within 1 hour of arriving as he wanted to get his new Percy train and Toby tested out properly on his train set…  He has managed to get 1/2 hour in tonight before his bath and the mail train is now setup so that the mail bags are collected and deposited automatically.  All that we need to do now is nail down the new tracks that Uncle Tim and Heather bought for Olly and consider the purchase of a new digital controlling system…

Here are the photos that we have taken over the last couple of days – as usual they are in the Gallery…
