Santa Express at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway
Today was Santa Express day, so we all set off for a fab lunch at the Dog and Gun near Oxenhope and then on to the Oxenhope Railway Station for a 14:40 departure.
Sadly (and typically) it was raining and we forgot to grab our umbrellas before leaving, so we managed to find a hardware store in Queensbury that had a couple of nice large golf type umbrellas available for just ยฃ5 each ๐
The train ride was once again a great experience and the boys once again were awarded some great presents from the jolly chap in the red cloak ๐
Daddy managed to get a few photos so they are sat in the Holiday Gallery, although will include them here for easy access ๐
The big day is just 3 days away now so the boys are supposedly on best behaviour ๐ They are both a little under the weather although Elliot has been for just about a week now, so he is hoping to shake it off in the next two days ๐
There has been a real calamity that Father Christmas was telling mummy and daddy about a certain gift that he is proposing to bring for Oliver this year – apparently the Elves have struggled to get it to work properly so have needed to send it to an electrician – apparently given the lateness in the day, they have decided to ditch it and find an alternative – this has been done but as yet they are unsure as to whether it will be ready in time – our fingers and toes are crossed that they are able to work a little late over the next couple of nights to ensure that our little ginger mouse is ecstatic on Christmas morning ๐ Good luck little Elves…
Today’s photos…
Photos from Thomas Land yesterday…
Great day out with Thomas at Drayton Manor Park
We spent today in Derbyshire at Drayton Bassett with the Box’s at ThomasLand in the Drayton Manor Park. Thankfully the rain stayed away all day except the 25 minutes that we were indoors watching the Polar Express 4D – which incidentally was VERY good. It got colder as the afternoon progressed to the point that we decided to go for the cars at 5:30 as the fireworks were running. Sadly the fireworks were not as cool as we were all hoping – could have been the fact that we stood in the cold for 30 minutes waiting for them however….
We actually didn’t managed to get to see Father Christmas today as his queue was well over one hour long – although in fairness the boys did not seem hugely disappointed by this.
Poor Elliot is full of cold – as is Gracie – so there’re plenty of sniffles and little coughs today. Olly was, well just Olly :-S
We stopped at the Tame Otter in Lichfield for dinner so we did not get home until nearly 10pm following a quick detour to Kerrie’s house to collect some curtains and curtain rails for Jenny and Justin’s new flat. The boys were flat out in the back of Bruce, so mummy took Olly in and daddy Elly. Elly was in bed asleep approx 6 minutes later – Olly took a little longer as he decided to go for a full on “I am pissed off” approach. Great ๐ Particularly since we had been treated to about 40 minutes of crying before we actually got home….. ๐
Oh well, long days and short nights over the weekend are catching up with them both – the boys were at Grannie Cuckoos over the weekend and we are guessing didn’t get as much sleep as they could have…. ๐
Last day of School before Christmas…
Today was the Silcoates last day of school so the boys are now all finished for Christmas. ย Their celebrations begin with a couple of nights at Grannie Cuckoo’s starting in the next hour or so ๐
Oliver actually missed his last day of school as he had a doctor appointment at Pinderfields as a follow up to his ongoing paediatric appointments regarding his temperature issues etc. ย The appointment was very late (40 minutes late) and to make matters a little worse was that we had got to the appointment nearly 20 minutes early ๐ ย Anyway, he is in a holding pattern for 6 months and hence we will continue to monitor his issues over the next 6 months.
