Great night out to see Michael McIntyre and car woes

Mummy and daddy managed to get out to the MotorPoint arena in Sheffield last night to see Michael McIntyre. It was a fantastic show that lasted just shy of 1hour 45 minutes. Grandma came round to watch Olly since he is still not completely right again following his week of illness. The boys were supposed to be spending the weekend at Grannies Cuckoo’s but Olly is just not up to being away from home so Grannie is coming over to ForkHall this afternoon and will stay here with them. Mummy and Daddy are heading to the charity dinner tonight and staying over at the venue.

As it happens, Olly is still not out of bed and it is now 11am !!!!

Dave the car dent guy has been around this morning and fixed up the little ping on Emily’s roof (she came with it) but could not easily perform his magic on Bruce as his wings are double skinned – hence would need to drill a hole in it etc. At which point, it may as well have a proper job including painting doing, so Simon is going to take Bruce down to Grant next week to get it professionally dealt with 🙂

Poorly household day 2…

A particularly bad start to the day today – while daddy was taking Elliot to school, Olly decided to self medicate some calpol and ibruprofen 🙁 Somehow he managed to get the child proof lids off both bottles, and when mummy went upstairs to see if he was awake yet, he was found in his room trying to clean himself up…..  So mummy went into our bedroom (where the three of us had slept) to find calpol and ibruprofen all of the bedsheets, pillowcases and towels (placed on the floor in case of night time sickness – to protect the carpet).  Clearly Olly had decided that he needed medication and had got into BOTH bottles…. 🙁

Vicky knew that at the most there was 20ml of each in their respective bottles, but that this was 4 times the allowed single dose of EITHER – and they had to be staggered.  Hence this one could be bad news.  The saving grace being that there was a LOT of it on the bed etc.  So, Vicky rang NHS direct to get advice, rather than us panicing and heading straight to A&E !!!

It turns out that even if he had taken all 40ml, he would not have a massive issue, just that he would likely have a stomach ache and get either the runs, vomiting or both.

As the day has turned out, neither happened causing us to believe that he was probably unsuccessful in getting ANY of the drugs in the first pace 🙂  The very fact that he has been pretty hot for most of the afternoon also backs up this theory – however safety is WAY better than being sorry after the event.

Pepsi is likewise not doing as well as we would have liked in that he whined most of the night (Vicky sat with him for over an hour during the night) and most of today.  He was taken to the vet for a quick check up at 10am, and they basically said that the painkillers that he was on was basically putting him into a bit of a trance so he probably did not really know where he was, and hence the whining.  Poor Pepsi.

He is back at the vets in the morning again for a check up to see how he is settling from the painkillers.  He definitely seems to be walking better today, but he does not want to eat or drink.  We have had to persuade him with chicken, sausages and cake in order to eat.  Most unusual for our Pepsi – he is usually not picky at all about what he eats !!  The vet today ensured that we heard that he is getting close to the last stages in his time with us, so we are thinking that one through – clearly we don’t wish to prolong his pain etc, but if there is something that we can do to give him extra time without the pain, then…

Sicky Olly :-(

Poor Olly came out of school last night with a temperature on the way – his face was flushed and he had bright red cheeks.  He gradually declined as the evening progressed, albeit managed via calpol and ibruprofen.  He did not sleep well during the night and kept mummy up for a significant portion of the night 🙁

So, he has not been into school today and has been in and out od sorts all day with wanting to be cuddled, then not cuddled etc

This is definitely not the usual temperature issue however, as he started vomiting at around 16:45 and has had 4 episodes of sickyness since then – it is only 17:56 now…

Typically today is Christopher Leech’s 18th birthday, so daddy is going to go along to celebrate with Chris at his birthday dinner, leaving mummy behind to look after Olly 🙁

Hopefully he has got the bug out with the sickyness and he will get a decent night’s sleep tonight…

Fingers crossed little dude….

Sledging fun

We all went to Xscape in Castleford this afternoon and the boys all went into the snow area sledging for Gracie’s birthday party.

We all got kitted out and ventured in and wandered up the slope. Olly just wanted to GO so he just set off, Daddy chased after and so Elly was in tears at the top of the slope :-(. Once we all got the the bottom, that little issue was quickly cleared up and we were off – all having a great time – Elly soon got over being worried about daddy leaving him at the top of the slope and soon became the little smart alec who raced off first to ensure that he ‘won’ the race. 🙂

Here are the only two photos daddy managed to get during the action – apologies for the lack of quality 🙁

We were all doing great for about 40 minutes until poor Olly fell off his sled at the bottom of the slope and fell forward – a face full of the cold stuff. He was NOT a happy bunny :-(. So, given daddy went in on his own with both boys, it was a case of either Elly stayed and played with his friends or he came out with Olly and daddy – Olly wanted out – he was cold and wet and very unhappy. So, Elly begrudgingly decided to come out as well.

We will have to go and do that again sometime as the boys LOVED it – except the face dive of course 🙂

Then daddy, reversed mummy’s car into the fence at home :-(. as we reversed onto the driveway, Mummy pointed out a potential issue with daddy’s car, daddy foolishly looked for said problem and boom…. :-(. Thankfully the scratches have all polished out but the is still a small dent on the drivers side rear wing that will most likely need professional help to pop out – but it should pop out OK from what we can tell. Given that Emily (daddy’s new car) has a small dent on the roof that needs removing, then we can get both done at the same time 🙂

It’s Friday already ….

Incredible how quickly the weeks are slipping by.

We were reminded by the radio earlier in the week tag the are now less than 100 days from Christmas – good job we started with the Christmas shopping last Sunday then 🙂

Poor Olly was tired today – he was up at 5am bright and perky – then has been swimming at school after lunch, so fell asleep in the car on the way home – it’s less than 4 miles !!!

To top it all, the poor monkey rolled over and fell off the couch and woke with a bit of a shock. So we let him sleep for an hour in our bed, thus when 8pm came around, he had no desire for further sleep.

We have another birthday party this weekend – it is Gracie Box’s sledging party at Xscape in Castleford – not sure about the boys, but Daddy is looking forward to the sun in the snow 🙂
