Roald Dahl Day

Tomorrow is Roald Dahl Day so Silcoates Juniors are all dressing up in their favourite characters for a little bit of fun. We thought it would be kind of ironic for Elliot to go in as The BFG (he towers above most if not all of his classmates) and incredibly not only is he up for it, he is really looking forward to dressing up.

So, with a little work, a pair of large latex ears, a large latex bald cap and some cotton wool, we have prepared a rather fetching hat to create Elliot’s BFG costume. Together with an old pair of green jeans, a school shirt and a waistcoat from a different costume we have a fantastic looking BFG. Then we bought a polly pocket doll to go in his shirt pocket as ‘Sophie’ and a snozzcumber to take as well, the illusion is complete. Check it put below without Sophie or the snozzcumber…

Daddy is actually disappointed that he will not be able to go into school in the morning as he has an interview – good luck daddy πŸ™‚

Elliot’s first big boy class at Martial Arts

Tonight was Elliot’s first Martial Arts raining class with the big boys and girls and the funny thing is that he fits right in – he is about average height πŸ™‚

This class is for 6 to 12 year olds and tonight there were 22 kids in there with 6 or so girls in the mix – and they were all very very good πŸ™‚

The class lasts for 45 minutes (opposed to 30 for the little dragons) and the last 5 minutes tonight was a game of dodgeball – kids vs. teachers.

Daddy was really impressed with the way in which they train at this level – split up into five stages and all the kids into five groups – 5 or so minutes per stage.

Elliot seemed to enjoy himself and came out laughing etc.

now we just had to figure out which days he will go along – I.e. can go Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 6pm and / or Saturday morning at 10am. Choices, choices…..

1:10am and the littlest Rust has a soaring temperature :-(

Oh oh, at 1:10am mummy was alerted to an issue coming from the bathroom – the littlest had got up to make use of the facilities and was struggling to pull up his panama bottoms. She noticed that he was quite warm so out came the trusty thermometer – 39.8 Celcius – oh CRAP.

S, looks like at least one day off school while we figure out what is wrong πŸ™

Poor little monkey isn’t getting any breaks it seems πŸ™

Awesome swim session this morning

At the Ossett Academy for the Splish Splash swimming lessons this morning. Oliver managed to swim on his back WITHOUT armbands πŸ™‚ WOW. Then he proved that he can JUST read water without them too :-). AWESOME progress.

Elliot was really flying today to the point that the teacher (Nicola) has asked us to call the office and see if we can get Elliot transferred over (or up) to Richards lesson from next week onwards. He is ready for the next stage and Richard’s class (runs at the same time thankfully) will make a big difference for him going forwards πŸ™‚

What a fantastic start to a sunny but cold Sunday morning πŸ™‚

Choo choo – look out, conductor Olly is on the prowl

Olly now a train guard of all of daddy’s old trains as well as Thomas, Toby and Percy – thankfully 90% of them still work – and the 10% that don’t simply need a Zero One chip removing – the 40 year old first version of today’s Hornby digital railway system :-). Still have it so you never know, it might just be worth a few quid πŸ™‚
