Cayton Joshua’s Christening

Vicky, Simon, Elliot and Oliver were overjoyed to be attending Cayton Joshua’s baptism in Flamborough today.  Not only that, we (Vicky and Simon) were really honoured to have been asked to step up as god-parents to the little guy.  The weather was fabulous, the church (St Oswalds in Flamborough) was a fabulous place with a really strong family feel to it.

It is amazing to think that Cayton is already 8 months old – , that said, he is really growing fast 🙂 crawling for the first time only on Saturday – watch out guys, we  he will be checking out all aspects of the house VERY soon…

How times change – we recall (Vicky and Simon) visiting Paula and Richard just 7 months ago where Cayton was just beginning to test out his parents 🙂 and we were trying to help advise from our experiences with Elliot.  It has been really great over the last month or so, where the roles have been reversed and we have been the receivers of the helpful advice where Oliver is concerned..

Elliot has been a model child today, behaving himself impeccably – something that we were REALLY worried about before the event…. He then had a great time at the reception afterwards and really burned some energy running around afterwards.

Oliver unloaded most of a bottle of milk on daddy just before we set off for home – that will teach daddy right for trying to force feed the boy 🙂  Pillock!

Back in Ossett from holiday in the Lakes

What a week – we thought we were going to potty train the eldest – that did not go quite as well as we would have liked.  Elliot was the beast from an unknown place last week – he was almost unbearable at times.  Mummy was actually ready to come home on TUESDAY – just 4 days in 🙁

We ended up canning the potty training in the end 🙁 (Daddy is convinced Elliot was waiting until he got clean underpants on, and THEN he was weeing in them !!!)

We will revisit in a couple of weeks was we are all less traumatised by the whole experience 🙂

Oliver has gone from strength to strength during the week, in that he is sleeping for an average of 6 hours, then feed, then sleep for a further four at night time :-).  He is now taking 6 oz milk at a sitting although the winding is still something he is not hugely keen on.

During the week, we did the following (amongst other things but these were the main events):

  •  Visit Ducky’s Park Farm in South Lakes (www.duckysparkfarm.co.uk) – was very cool although Elliot was more interested in playing that seeing and feeing animals 🙁

  •  Shopping in Kendal, Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside

  •  Playing on the beach at Morecambe – the town is really deserted and in a crap state – the beach was good though and Elly loved it

  •  Feed the ducks at White Cross Bay a few times 🙂

  •  Bought the BEST Gingerbread ever tasted from Sarah Nelson’s shop – Grasmere Gingerbread – simply awesome gingerbread – if you are passing by – stop and buy some – you will not regret it 🙂

Heat wave

Wow it has been very hot this last few days – 29+ degrees Celsius pretty much every day this week so far.

Oliver’s operation scars are healing really nicely.  He is now demanding 5 fluid ounces of scoobies on a pretty regular basis – unfortunately this included last night every other hour, on the hour 🙁 No sleep for mummy last night 🙁 At least next week we are all on holiday so daddy can step up to the plate and offer up some sleep 🙂

Got some pictures to share….. Check out this little dude..

What about this one…..

Now, here is a picture of a small boy less than 6 days following a pretty significant operation – do you think he looks in any pain?

Life is just GREAT!!!

Finally, we have a picture of Elliot playing out today in the garden

How grown up does he look then? Cheeky little monkey 🙂

First FULL day home

The first full day home has been good – Oliver is already demanding more scoobies AND on a more frequent basis.  He has not been sick either.

He got 5 hours sleep between 11pm and 4am which was quite nice.

It is VERY warm here in Ossett today – it was 25 degrees Celsius when Simon came home from work at 7pm.   This is with NO sun out, a cloudy sky and raining…  Muggy is definitely the right single word 🙁  Look at that – typical British – complaining when it is warm, complains when it is old and damned well complains when it rains.

Next week we have a vacation week so hopefully we are heading to the Lakes for a short break for a week or so.  Looking forward to it simply does not cut quite how much we are….. last week or two have been pretty fraught

We are home :-)

Following a reasonable night with just one sicky incidence (the nurse claimed responsibility as she woke him up and force fed him – he didn’t want either!) that was discounted fortunately.

So, Oliver was discharged at around 10:30 and we were on our way home.

He has so far had one 70ml feed and winded no problem – he would not wind for us at all in the hospital.  Homely surroundings seem to have rectified that.

Above is a picture of Oliver’s tummy 4 hours after the operation – as you can see there are just three entry points (each one circled) – the main one being his tummy button where the camera went in – this will not be obvious once it has healed at all apparently.  The other two were were the tools were inserted to do the deed.  The consultant told us that it was a very big stenosis – not that we didn’t know that I guess 🙂
