Holiday booked :-)

Yesterday, we finalized a 10 day vacation to sunny Orlando in April.  We are going to meet up with Jason, Amy and Charlotte for 6 days (having had 4 days before they arrive).  It was our first really painfully expensive vacation that falls in school holidays 🙁

We are staying at a hotel that is literally across the street from Downtown Disney, so we will not really need the car too much we hope – i.e. just walk across the road and make use of the free Disney transportation 🙂

Now we need to plan which attractions the boys will want to see and enjoy… Thus figure out how many hard earned $$$ the Mouse is going to take from us before we leave the UK – Disney Park tickets….

-5 Celcius this morning as we got the kids ready and prepared to take Elliot to school – BRRRRR 🙁 🙁 🙁  Apparently it is going to get colder over the weekend as well 🙁  At least we should have all of our radiators online and operational…

Day 9 – end of play photos…

We are cooking on the gas it seems (so to speak) but highly unlikely to be complete by te end of tomorrow.  The kitchen surfaces arrived and were fitted today 🙂 Only the breakfast bar surface was not cut correctly so has had to go back to be edited (can’t cut and polish it onsite) 🙁  The microwave is in place (just needs power supplying) and all of the under surface lights are in and functional (can see this on the photo 🙂 )  It seems that we are in the last furlong for the kitchen now as well with the gas hob going in first thing tomorrow and then just finishing pieces such as the separator in the pan drawer and the cutlery dividers etc to go in.  The plasterer is coming on Monday, so we should be painting on either Monday night or Tuesday at some point.

The house bathroom is 95% complete with just the shower screen to go up and then the sealant applying all around.  Hopefully the screen will arrive tomorrow although the sealing will definitely take place tomorrow.

The tiling in the ground floor toilet will begin and hopefully be completed tomorrow and then the fittings go in either tomorrow or next week (most likely).

Overall, the house is in a real state with a significant portion of dust etc that we are really looking forward to seeing the back of over the coming days…

Day 8 – end of play photos…

Good progress today – the house bathroom is almost complete – will be finished tomorrow apparently.  The kitchen now has handles on all the doors and the finishing plinths have been completed.  We are hoping to see the first of the granite surfaces tomorrow afternoon 🙂 Then, we will be really motoring… The ground floor bathroom has not had any work done on it today so there are no photos for today.

Day 7 – end of play photos…

Well, we now have a fully ripped out downstairs bathroom that is now ready for tiling 🙂

The kitchen is progressing nicely although you will need to look VERY closely to see the differences – basically the kick boards and plinths above the upper cupboards.  Also, the top doors are on the frideg surround although the supplier sent the wrong doors for the bottom for the second time 🙁  Finally, 4 of the 6 under counter lights are fitted and operational 🙂 Just to figure out how to get a better switch as the one that has been put in leaves a lot to be desired sadly…

Day 6 – end of play photos…

So we now have NO sinks or taps in the downstairs of the house 🙁 The ground floor ‘dunny’ has been removed along with everything else in that room bar the flooring (to go tomorrow) and the light fitting…

The house bathroom is now fully tiled on both the walls and the floor – just awaiting grouting and the upper units along with the actual toilet seat itself.  The floor looks very bling (although the photo’s just don’t show this) and should be fab when it is all done.

The kitchen has been getting some of the finishing pieces applied today so it does not appear to have had a whole lot of stuff done, but it is really beginning to ‘sparkle’ 🙂  See photos…  We have decided that we will need to change the lighting in the kitchen once the units etc are completed – more fun then….
