Ski lessons booked…. Gulp!

Daddy has got two three hour ski lessons booked in starting this coming Sunday evening – GULP!

Decided to go for two three hour sessions and then a final single hour session to get the 5 stages of the required certification. An eight hour single day gig was too frightening a prospect apparently…. Meow…

Let’s see if he damages himself….

Later today, over to the Alhambra to watch Jack and the Beanstalk 🙂

Hokkaido night

Last night we went out with Martin, Tracy, Chris and Nic to the Japanese restaurant, Hokkaido in Wakefield – a really fun evening with friends and a novel dining experience with the food all cooked on a hot plate right in front of our eyes. It was a £45 per head gig including a good amount of drinks so not a super cheap meal, but then a really nice experience to boot.

Don’t think We would return as just a couple as this is definitely a group experience. We all came out having enjoys the food and experience but we all agreed to still feeling a little hungry.

We have (or Vicky has) taken down all of the Christmas decorations and Simon has put them away for another year – just the outside lights to go but these can wait until just after the New Year.

Lapland baby

It’s been a pretty long day but we arrived in Kittila finally at around 1pm local time (2 hours ahead of UK time).  The transfer on the bus took all of 20 minutes although the sun had gone down not long after we arrived at the hotel (there is only 4 hours of sunlight during the day here at the moment).

Since then, we have sat through an orientation session, eaten dinner in the restaurant (not bad at all for buffet and included mulled wine 🙂 ), taken a nice walk around the local town of Levi (the kids were pulled along in sledges so they were all set) and finished up with a shower before getting settled for bed.

The town of Levi is stunningly beautiful, especially at night with the twinkling of the lights set against the snowy roads and ski slopes.

Tomorrow we set out early doors to Santa’s workshop to play football with some elves, bake some gingerbread cookies, check out the mail room and see Santa himself 🙂

Daddy is trying to persuade all to have a ski taster session – wish him luck as there appears to be resistance in the force…

Have we found the solution…. ???

At the beginning of the week Simon was fed up with clearing up dog mess from Hugo overnight so on Sunday night, Hugo was locked into his cage and not granted access to the outer cage in a bid to try to have him go overnight without messing anywhere.

Well, it worked, so again on Monday night, then Tuesday and now at Friday, we can claim that we have nailed it – not a single accident all week whereas previously we were odds on for both activities overnight…

Interestingly it has also had the affect of significantly reducing the number of during the day accidents also somehow – down to one in 5 days !!!

So, we now know that he just needed locking into his comfy warm bed and he would hold it as long as possible – we have only been expecting 7 to 8 hours overnight and he manages this comfortably.

Now just to get him to go outside of our garden (the only place he seems to feel comfortable doing it at present 🙁 He will hold onto it for a 1 hour walk and then run to do it in our back garden…. grrr…
