Second week of school already passed…

Incredibly we are now two full weeks into the Autumn term and the boys are well settled in. Oliver went fro his first swimming lesson at the big school with mummy yesterday afternoon. Apparently he had a fab time and was definitely a little tired when he got home.

Mummy has been making some really cool cupcake icing toppers (can’t say anymore just yet as it will spoil the surprise) for Elliot’s birthday cupcakes for his school friends. Oliver stayed home with Daddy and Uncle Tim while Mummy went to collect Elliot from school – he snook a couple of the decorations without anyone noticing – until that is when Mummy came home ๐Ÿ™

Elliot has his first swimming lesson at school on Monday and given how many of the children in Oliver’s class that could swim, we are wondering if we need to get the boys some extra swimming lessons in order that they catch up with their classmates.

We have a birthday party for a couple of Elliot’s classmates tomorrow, with Elliot’s next Saturday and then another of his classmates a couple of weeks later, the birthday party season appears to be well and truly open ๐Ÿ™‚

Tina has passed her MoT

Thankfully she is all clear and is now ready for her number plate to get removed, prior to selling. ย In fairness there would be no good reason for her to have failed the test – she was only serviced last week and has only covered 2,300 miles since her last MoT 12 months ago. ย Almost 1,000 of those miles was before we bought her.

While Simon will miss her, it will not be for want of putting miles on her, so it is probably a blessing to let her go. ย One day when we are wealthy, we will consider buying one again ๐Ÿ™‚

Bobby is down at the test centre – her test is in the morning ๐Ÿ™‚

“I think I need an alarm clock to get up for school”

Elliot came down from bed this morning and that was one of the first things Elliot said to daddy. No really sure whe it came from but it sounded like a great idea since we had real problems in getting him up all of last year on school days. It transpires that it was an idea that he got from SpongeBob Square Pants – so maybe we change our mind re: SpongeBob – maybe it is educational after all….
Anyway, he selected an alarm clock – a Lego Starwars Stormtrooper – no surprise to many reading this. It is a foot tall Lego character that has flexible legs just like a ‘proper’ Lego figure. He is really rather pleased with it and Olly has decided that he needs one as well – difference being that Olly has no idea what it is ๐Ÿ™‚ Just knows he wants one ๐Ÿ™‚ Elliot’s is set for 7am for waking time – let’s see how we get on tomorrow.
Tomorrow is first day back at school for BOTH boys – they are somewhat looking forward to it.
Mummy has been stressing most of the day about getting their kit all ready – they have three sports kits each with their own different bag !!! well, Elliot has three, Oliver just two.
New bedtimes have now been set as 7pm for Oliver and 7:30pm for Elliot. We think Oliver may really need this as he is n for school 5 days a week from tomorrow – gulp

Busy week

Been a really busy week despite the bank holiday. Simon has been busy with work, including a 5am start to get down to Reading for 10am.
The weather has been cold and wet – in fact it has got really quite cold in the last couple of days – who would have thought that we would have the central heating on in August????
This is the last weekend of the school holidays so we are rushing around getting the last it’s of uniform that have eluded us thus far ๐Ÿ™

The boys are away for the weekend…

…so the parents will play ๐Ÿ™‚

We dropped the boys off at Grannie Cuckoo’s yesterday afternoon as we had a night out with the other parents from Elliot’s previous class. They seemed oblivious to the fact that we were leaving them behind as they got their gear together to go out to see great grandma.

We went down to the Capri in Horbury Bridge for the meal – it has really changed since we were last in there – perhaps a little crammed but the general feel of the place was great and the food was pretty spot on too. The company was great as well – we had a great time and typically were last to leave at around 12:30am.

Pleasantly we did not have any evidence of hangovers this morning so got ready and went out on the bikes head down to the canal and then South towards Horbury Bridge and on towards Wakefield. We then jumped on the Denby Dale Road and took on the loooonnnnngg ride up to the roundabout by West Bretton. then right to Midgley and down through Netherton, UP Storrs Hill and home. All told, approx 20k journey and all was good excepting the rain that hit us from Midgley on.

Interestingly, the cycling has not immediately affected Simon’s right knee that has been troublesome for the last month or so. He thinks running may be a bad idea, but cycling seemed to work out OK.

Tonight we are heading out again, this time to Wakefield with Kerrie and Spencer to the Cow Shed. suspect that there will be significantly less alcohol involved tonight ๐Ÿ™‚
