Elliot came down from bed this morning and that was one of the first things Elliot said to daddy. No really sure whe it came from but it sounded like a great idea since we had real problems in getting him up all of last year on school days. It transpires that it was an idea that he got from SpongeBob Square Pants – so maybe we change our mind re: SpongeBob – maybe it is educational after all….
Anyway, he selected an alarm clock – a Lego Starwars Stormtrooper – no surprise to many reading this. It is a foot tall Lego character that has flexible legs just like a ‘proper’ Lego figure. He is really rather pleased with it and Olly has decided that he needs one as well – difference being that Olly has no idea what it is π Just knows he wants one π Elliot’s is set for 7am for waking time – let’s see how we get on tomorrow.
Tomorrow is first day back at school for BOTH boys – they are somewhat looking forward to it.
Mummy has been stressing most of the day about getting their kit all ready – they have three sports kits each with their own different bag !!! well, Elliot has three, Oliver just two.
New bedtimes have now been set as 7pm for Oliver and 7:30pm for Elliot. We think Oliver may really need this as he is n for school 5 days a week from tomorrow – gulp

Busy week
Been a really busy week despite the bank holiday. Simon has been busy with work, including a 5am start to get down to Reading for 10am.
The weather has been cold and wet – in fact it has got really quite cold in the last couple of days – who would have thought that we would have the central heating on in August????
This is the last weekend of the school holidays so we are rushing around getting the last it’s of uniform that have eluded us thus far π
The boys are away for the weekend…
…so the parents will play π
We dropped the boys off at Grannie Cuckoo’s yesterday afternoon as we had a night out with the other parents from Elliot’s previous class. They seemed oblivious to the fact that we were leaving them behind as they got their gear together to go out to see great grandma.
We went down to the Capri in Horbury Bridge for the meal – it has really changed since we were last in there – perhaps a little crammed but the general feel of the place was great and the food was pretty spot on too. The company was great as well – we had a great time and typically were last to leave at around 12:30am.
Pleasantly we did not have any evidence of hangovers this morning so got ready and went out on the bikes head down to the canal and then South towards Horbury Bridge and on towards Wakefield. We then jumped on the Denby Dale Road and took on the loooonnnnngg ride up to the roundabout by West Bretton. then right to Midgley and down through Netherton, UP Storrs Hill and home. All told, approx 20k journey and all was good excepting the rain that hit us from Midgley on.
Interestingly, the cycling has not immediately affected Simon’s right knee that has been troublesome for the last month or so. He thinks running may be a bad idea, but cycling seemed to work out OK.
Tonight we are heading out again, this time to Wakefield with Kerrie and Spencer to the Cow Shed. suspect that there will be significantly less alcohol involved tonight π
4th August 2012 – Great Britain’s day in sport
WOW – what a day – 6 golds at the Olympics. awesome results
We were fortunate to be able to watch it with a glass of red in the lodge – caught Jessica Aennis nail the final part of her Heptathalon – the 800 metres – taking her a handy 327 points clear. then Mo Farah taking gold in the 10,000 meters – a sensational race – all done in a little longer than Simon can do 5,000!!!!!! During this last race, Greg Rutherford took another handy gold in the long jump π
Electric evening :-).
Go Team GB.
Pepsi in the vet for second check-up
Gordon took a look at him again this morning and deems that while Pepsi is clearly OK in himself and appears not to be in pain, he is still unaware of where his back legs actually are π He does not have a lot of control of the legs and so this is clearly a cause for concern. Β We must keep an eye on it and try to keep him from rushing around everywhere and to try to get him to walk slowly and properly – this will help his recovery. Β This may be easier said than done but we will try to help him in this recovery stage.
We are back for a further check-up in a month so we have some training to do π
