Daddy went swimming with Olly at school today

With mummy at work, it was daddy’s turn to collect Olly from Sunny Hill and take him up to Silcoates to go swimming.  This was the first time daddy has had this particular pleasure and suspects it won’t be the last 🙂

We arrived at the boys changing room at around 13:00 for a 13:20 swim to find nobody there and the doors to the pool locked.  hmmm….  So we went in search of somebody to see if a) we were in the right place and b) what we actually needed to do.  It transpires that we were indeed in the right place and that the door to the pool was intentionally locked until the staff were there – makes a lot of sense with the kids around the place 🙂

Anyway, Olly was in the sharks group and he was good at kicking his legs to cross the pool, although he understood the requirement for breaststroke ‘superman’ (or supercat as they named it for Olly) arms less well 🙁  Perhaps we can go and practise this weekend at Grandma’s pool…

The last thing they all did was jump into the pool to see if they could splash the swimming teacher.  Olly was pretty good at the ‘bombing’ exercise and found it all very amusing.  There are some great little swimmers in Oll’s class – Olly has some catching up to do…

Loft re-boarding :-)

Early start on a Saturday morning to take up the loft boards that Simon had badly installed some years ago, and add more to increase storage capacity up there. Thanks to uncle Tim, we now have the full main section boarded out and have made use of remaining boards to enable the use of off main board storage. The result is astounding – the is now almost a complete corridor of walkway space available and all goods are way better stored now.

Maybe in a couple of months we will perform a similar job on he side of the loft that is used to store suitcases and all he old kids clothes etc – I.e. loose board to better spread the load 🙂

Thanks Uncle Tim

Pepsi to the vet – just a quick checkup

No major drama but Pepsi is out of tablets so we needed to take him to the vet this am for a checkup before they would allow us to buy more 🙂

He has (as expected) a clean bill of health and we have a large box of drug number 1 with the easy flex chews on order to collect on Monday.  Elliot and Oliver went down to Palmer and Duncan with daddy to take Pepsi, although neither of them wanted to particularly.  Elliot seemed to think that Pepsi was going to have his legs removed (??!!??) and Oliver was somewhat concerned over the other dogs in the waiting room.  Then he spied a cat – that changed everything for him and the trip was worthwhile it seems.

Elliot was not too happy with the smells in the place and didn’t seem to understand that there are lots of animals in the vet, so naturally there are smells lingering around from them all.

Mummy is working from home today, so the boys are all going to head out somewhere to get out of the way and leave the house a little quieter 🙂

When Mummy is at work, the boys will play….

Mummy started her month of contract work today, so was up and out of the house shortly after 7am 🙁  All after a crap night sleep as well – firstly with the worry of the alarm going off (come on – we’ve all been there with that one) and secondly with Olly waking up 🙁

So, the boys did a little shopping and a lot of playing…  We head out to get some dog food for Pepsi and get an appointment for him so that he can have more of his tablets etc.  Then on to B&Q to get some wood to build a frame to fit Olly’s train set to the wall in the garage.  Finally, we went to the boys favourite shop – Toys R US – to spend some of their CHristmas cash 🙂

Elliot bought some (surprise, surprise) Star Wars LEGO and Olly got some Cars colour changers – fun with water 🙁

Daddy fitted Olly’s Train set to the wall in the garage so that it hinges up to the wall when out of use and down, with legs that automatically pop out to support it when he wants to use it.  Hopefully it will be usable out there and not too cold – the board is just too big to leave lying in the dining room or conservatory and is thus getting damaged unnecessarily 🙁  This solution should be more permanent and keeps it safely out of the way when not in use 🙂

Last post of 2012 – day out in Bridlington yesterday

This is to be the last post of 2012 – my how the year has FLOWN by…

Yesterday, we nipped over to Bridlington to spend the day with Cayton, Paula and Richard.  Thankfully Oliver was feeling quite a bit better (although still needed Calpol etc to keep him going) so we decided that it was going to be a trip that we could make.  We spend an hour or so on the beach in the rain and wind – it was most definitely cold, but the boys really enjoyed it – shame daddy didn’t enjoy it so much and wittered on about sand in his car… 🙁

SAM_7120SAM_7127We then head over to an indoor play centre right next door to the John Bull Rock factory – shame there were no tours going on – would have loved to have done that – daddy did one 30 or so years ago and every time we pass the place (on the way into Bridlington from York) he tells us all about it – dull really 🙁

Then over to the fish and chip shop for tea (when in Rome….) before an hour or so back at their place prior to heading back over to Ossett.

A great day out all in all, ended with Olly screaming in the car for the last 5 to 10 minutes as he awoke by his movement sensor (car stopped at the motorway roundabout at the Ossett / Wakefield junction).  Mummy then had to struggle to get him ready for and then into bed…
