Big weekend – playtime and sleepover at cuckoos

Elliot invited his friend Euan round to play on Saturday afternoon for a few hours – so naturally we were slightly nervous as to whether he would play nicely and more importantly share successfully. Also there was the little issue of Oliver and how he would react / be involved. We were amazed at how well it all went and the fact that Elliot actually sat back and shared everything without question including offering Euan carte Blanche of the XBOX games to play when Euan asked to play something else. The boys seemed to have a fantastic time so we chalked it down as a successful play date ๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully they will want to play again soon.

The boys then ere collected by Granny Cuckoo for a night in Halifax while mummy and daddy went out for a meal with Mark, Yvonne, Spencer and Kerrie up at 315 near Grange Moor. They boys had a great time although seemingly got little sleep and mummy and daddy also had a great time, although perhaps a little too much alcohol made its way into Simon’s system :-(. When we returned home, he disappeared upstairs to put his jacket away – he returned 5 minutes later in the conservatory with a tumbler of Sambuca in just a t-shirt and underpants. Still can’t remember why he thought it was a) a good idea or b) why he did it at all….. ๐Ÿ™

Great weekend all told – just next time, daddy, keep your pants on :-s

Great day out with Thomas at Drayton Manor Park

TL_01

We spent today in Derbyshire at Drayton Bassett with the Box’s at ThomasLand in the Drayton Manor Park. Thankfully the rain stayed away all day except the 25 minutes that we were indoors watching the Polar Express 4D – which incidentally was VERY good. It got colder as the afternoon progressed to the point that we decided to go for the cars at 5:30 as the fireworks were running. Sadly the fireworks were not as cool as we were all hoping – could have been the fact that we stood in the cold for 30 minutes waiting for them however….

We actually didn’t managed to get to see Father Christmas today as his queue was well over one hour long – although in fairness the boys did not seem hugely disappointed by this.

Poor Elliot is full of cold – as is Gracie – so there’re plenty of sniffles and little coughs today. Olly was, well just Olly :-S

We stopped at the Tame Otter in Lichfield for dinner so we did not get home until nearly 10pm following a quick detour to Kerrie’s house to collect some curtains and curtain rails for Jenny and Justin’s new flat. The boys were flat out in the back of Bruce, so mummy took Olly in and daddy Elly. Elly was in bed asleep approx 6 minutes later – Olly took a little longer as he decided to go for a full on “I am pissed off” approach. Great ๐Ÿ™ Particularly since we had been treated to about 40 minutes of crying before we actually got home….. ๐Ÿ™

Oh well, long days and short nights over the weekend are catching up with them both – the boys were at Grannie Cuckoos over the weekend and we are guessing didn’t get as much sleep as they could have…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great day on the Mountain bikes at Llandegla, Wales

Yesterday, daddy, uncle Tim, Cousin James and Lee (Jessica from Elliot’s class daddy) head out to Llandegla in North Wales for a trip out with the mountain bikes. It was a cold (2C) start ad didn’t get any warmer but there was no wind and no rain to speak of so it did not actually feel very cold.

We all did around 12 to 14 miles depending on whether the black routes were taken or not. all told, it took somewhere in the region of 3 1/2 hours to complete and we all had a great time. suspect that daddy and Cousin James may just feel a tad sore either today or tomorrow as it has been a while since last doing this sort of thing and this was a MONSTER of a ride…

Daddy had leg issues from about mile 9 where his thighs were just worn out plain and simple :-). Perhaps taking the black run was not the smartest idea after all :-). Very pleased to have done it though ๐Ÿ™‚

Elliot went to a birthday part in Dewsbury with mummy for two of the children in his year at school – it was a go-karting party with battery powered karts. The kids all had a great time it seems.

Today we are heading out for lunch in Walton, near Wetherby and then a couple of hours at Stockeld Park with Jessica and parents. Hopefully the rain / snow will hold off for us ๐Ÿ™‚

Another weekend down…

Another weekend has been lost…

On Saturday we head over to Filey to celebrate Cayton’s 4th birthday party – he had a cool pool party at a place called The Bay in Filey (right next door to Primrose Valley) that has loads of holiday homes – real brick houses that just felt like a lovely village all set overlooking the bay of Filey and with a pub, cafe, shop and leisure centre. Olly was unable to swim due to his still being poorly – he has not slept through the night pretty much all week :-(. However, he still enjoyed being there – take a look…

Today, daddy and uncle Tim head out for a ride on their mountain bikes at lunchtime. They did over 21km and got absolutely filthy – apparently it was a good ride ๐Ÿ™‚

We are hoping that Olly manages to sleep through tonight and then he might be good to go to school tomorrow.

Mountain biking in Sherwood Forest

Yesterday, Simon Tim, James, Lee and Sam head down to Sherwood Pines for a pootle around the red route on the cycle path.

Thankfully it did not rain BUT clearly it HAD rained a lot – VERY muddy on a significant portion of the route.

We generally had a great time although poor james needed to stop 50 yards from the end of the route (Kitchener Trail Red Route total is 10 miles) for a swift TV (Tactical Vomit). ย The silly sod also didn’t bother with cycling short so he is gonna have a sore ass today and tomorrow…. ๐Ÿ™

We have already booked ourselves to head over to Llandegla in North Wales on the 1st December.

This morning we have seen the first frost of the winter season thus far – ice on the car windscreens (those that are outside) ๐Ÿ™

Tina left ForkHall earlier this week – Simon has decided to enlist the help of the guy who he bought her from – more likely to secure a sale from a well known specialist dealer of these types of vehicle. ย Hopefully a sale will be upcoming in the next few days / weeks…
