Garden work and sunshine

Over the last two weeks we have had a gardener trim the bushes and trees in both the front and back gardens. The rain certainly spoilt play and hence a two day job ended up taking the better part of 6 days but generated a job lot of clippings. Simon tested out the use of Kirklees recycling center with the new trailer – no problems via the Dewsbury center although we have now used one of our twelve allowed uses of the facilities with a trailer.

This morning Greg came around with his trailer and we took 10 more bags (on top of the two taken to Kirklees) down to the Wakefield recycling center.

However, last night one of the neighbours stopped Simon outside the back gates and stated that if we left the bags of cuttings by his gates (just outside our own) he would arrange for his team to remove th m and burn them for us πŸ™‚ Winner. So we placed a further 10 bags out there at lunchtime and per the conversation they were gone by tea time πŸ™‚

So, Simon is now going to see if he can cancel the skip that he hired on Friday for delivery this coming Friday as we have approximately 6 bags of clippings left to get rid of and we know that we can do this via the recycle centres and the trailer – we just need some more bags πŸ™‚

Finally this afternoon we head out for a dog walk and met up with Lee, Caroline and Jessica at the Sun Inn in Flockton – the sun was beating down on us so a few cheeky scoops later and we have sun burn and might have a headache in the morning :-/

Elliot has gone out rollerskating with Grandma and Grandad while Olly, mummy and daddy are toasting marshmallows over the fire…..

Let it mow…

The new mowers have finally arrived and are safely tucked up in the garage – sadly the tractor doesn’t quite fit in the garage so the clipping collector has needed removing to shut the garage door. So, maybe on Sunday we will do a little shuffling of stuff to ensure that it all fits appropriately.

In separate news, Penny is enjoying a further weekend away in Guisely – accordingly all the work has been done but she needs valeting before she can return – hopefully all will be tip top when she gets back on Monday.

This last couple of days have been lovely – sun shining, wind dropped so Hugo has been playing in the back garden while daddy worked in the office – the office is clearly missing a window in the back to look out over the fields to Emley…

Olly is off on his first school residential

He has a huge bag full of gear to get muddy, wet and generally have a whole heap of fun. The kids were all excited yet nervous and Olly was no exception to this – he asked to sleep in mummy and daddy’s bed last night because he would miss us all on Monday night…

They are heading to a place in Sheffield so it is not so far, but a night away for the first time is a BIG deal for any child.

They are going to be coming back with loads of funny stories and will give themselves plenty to speak about for the next few months…

Have fun Olly XX

Dog chews

Simon came home knowing that there was a problem with the weather forecasting Raspberry Pi in the office so this morning when we got back from dropping Penny off for her new headrests, he reset the little Pi.

Not long after he noticed that while wifi was indeed operational in the office, there was actually no internet connection. So, he set about checking to see if the network cables in the office were OK and if the access point was experiencing an issue. Then back to the main house to see if there was a problem there. All seemed OK so the concern became whether a small animal had chewed through the cab,e en-route to the office in the garden – a quick visual inspection suggested that this was probably not the case.

OK! So maybe the cable end needed recrimping in the shoe closet where perhaps one of the kids had thrown their shoes in and inadvertently caused the cable to not quite be in great shape.

Soon after, the surveyor from John Lewis arrived Adams Simon opened the kitchen door to let the chap in, it became super obvious what had happened – there were black cables sticking out from the house wall – yes, in case you have not got up to speed, the DAMNED dog has chewed the bloody wires on their way into the house…. GGGGRRRRRRRR

He is closing in on being evicted – the amazing of damage the little sod is creating at the moment is far too significant….

Screen a plenty

Lady Penelope has been at RAM Mobile all day today having rear seat entertainment screens and TV tuner fitted. She now has some huge 9″ screens in the front headrests for the rear passengers along with wireless headphones and dual DVD drives. The setup is pretty impressive and can even distribute sound through the car sound system should all passengers wish to listen to whatever media is showing on the screens.

All we need to do is setup a Google Chromecast to the setup (there is a spare HDMI port ready and waiting) and we are all set for long and short journeys πŸ™‚

Winner.
