3 MoTs in 10 days….

Both Teslas and little Mia have their MoTs in a 10 day period starting with Mia on the 18th June. The Teslas are already booked in at Halfords near Simon’s Leeds workplace but we still need to get Mia sorted out.

While there is no obvious detriment to her condition since last year, given her age, anything is possible.

Olly has cleaned up her underside and checked that it is just the paint on the suspension areas that was corroded – the arms etc all still look OK.

We have also finished the stitching of the rear window surround so the soft top is ready for summer, although obviously that has nothing to do with MoT.

Fingers crossed all goes well as Oliver really wants to be taken to prom later in the month and that is entirely dependent on an MoT pass

Spring may have sprung

it has been a lovely week of terrific sunshine and general outdoor warmth.

Both front and rear lawns have now had their first cuts of the season, the rear garden furniture is back on the garden and it feels warm during the day….

Last weekend we installed Elliot’s new led grill to Marco (although we have yet to sort the electrics to enable it to actually work) and this weekend (well today) has been a Mia special.

Olly has sorted out an oil change and the replacement of the rocker cover gasket – both of which have helped eradicate a ticking noise that the engine has recently begun to experience. Safe to say, he is delighted so we will need to do another oil change and oil filter change in the coming weeks (so we can check for any crap in the oil – given we know it was new as of today.

We took it out for a little run and it was in great form overall. Hopefully during this next couple of weeks (schco holidays) Olly will find the time in his busy revision schedule to begin to take a look at the door windows – the drivers side needs checking for functioning electronics so that we can put an electric kit back in it (previous owner removed it for some reason 🙁 ) and also to look at the passenger side to determine if we can just buy a repair kit to replace the cables – we think this is all that is required to ease the opening / closing operations (basically we think the system is gunged up and a replacement cable mechanism (rather than entire system) will suffice).

Mia’s adventures

it has been a while since we posted anything but today we have finally finished the initial set of updates to Oliver’s MX5.

Over the last few weeks we have put a new Apple CarPlay stereo including reversing camera and digital aerial, all new LED lamps, replaced the reversing bulbs with bulbs that also act as fog lights (unless the car is in reverse and then the drivers side stays as fog light while the passenger side operates as a reversing light). We have also wired up the heated rear screen and put an OEM switch in to operate it. Finally, per Oliver’s request, we have today installed heated seat pads into both seats and installed the wiring looms to operate them. There is a photo of the installed switches to show how OEM we have managed to make it all look as a finished article.

Robot vacuum

Why did we not buy one of these before now? We recently purchased a cheap robot vacuum cleaner – Eufy G50.

Wow, just wow, every morning we now awake to a dog hair free snug and a rug that is well coiffed 🙂

It is a really basic model but can be controlled by Alexa and is setup to automatically head out and clean while we all sleep.

It does need emptying each morning as the dust bin is only small (as you would expect of course) and we have no idea how long it will live, but for now it has blown our mind 🙂
