Marry Christmas to all

Well, the snow kept coming, Daddy and Elliot built a snowman in the garden and cleared the drive ready for Granddad to be able to park his car on the drive.

Father Christmas has been to Fork Hall and has been very good to Oliver and Elliot – they have obviously been very good boys this year.

Elliot was opening his presents yesterday morning and took a look at a relatively large parcel and said “that looks space ship sized – I think I’ll open that now” – he was right – it was indeed a spaceship !!!  The spaceship has not been out of his view for the last 24hours – it has clearly and quickly become his favourite toy.

Olly is a little better now as well – he has only had us up 3 to 4 times during the nights for the last couple so we are hoping that he will be back to his usual self very soon.  He has begun to eat properly and the colour has faded away (he looked flushed all of the time) as he has been having trouble with his teeth (not yet showing signs of coming through other than the redness in his cheeks, the severe brownness in the lower cheeks 🙁 and the pissed off ness that he has been showing for 3 weeks !!

We had a really wonderful time at Grandmas’ yesterday with a fab meal, and some good laughs – it was all polished off by a really nice firework display that had been purchased for the occasion.

We walked down there on Christmas Eve for the party and walked back Christmas night (Elly sledged both times on his new sledge that we bought when the snow fell for the second time) – we borrowed Grandmas’ car to get home on Christmas Eve and to get back on Christmas afternoon – Olly was too poorly to be in the cold for that extra amount of time – takes 45 mins to get back (on foot) in the snow time it seems.

Oh my, the snow just keeps coming :-)

It has been on and off all day, but at times the snow fall has been as thick as either of us can remember it ever having been before 🙂  Simon loves it, Vicky hates it.  Simple as that.

Andy came round to wash the cars, and at that time it wasn’t snowing so we thought, yea, why not – following the wash, we found that the 5 series would not drive back into the garage because the water had of course frozen….  DSC off, and with 3,000 rpm, the car was in and dry 🙂

The chances are the 7 series doors will have frozen shut – will find out tomorrow as Simon has an optician appointment in Halifax.

David and Julie came round with Abbie for an hour or two over lunch, so David and Simon went out to find one of those plastic containers that the council leave out with salt in it.  So, we now have a bucket full of salt ready for use as and when we need it.

We walked down to Clare and Franks for tea tonight, and enjoyed the walk – there were an amazing number of people demonstrating very poor snow driving skills – as well as some fools who were hooning around – they will most likely end up with bend panels in their cars and vans before the snow is gone.

We have collected two passport applications, one for Simon’s renewal and the other for Olly – just need to get some photos done and to have somebody countersign Olly’s……

I’m STILLdreaming of a white Christmas – SANTA EXPRESS DAY!!

It is definitely the Santa Express day today – less than zero degrees Celsius and a light dusting of snow in the air 🙂  It always seems to be FREEZING on the station platforms while we are waiting for the train to pick us up.

We got great seats on the train today – there was loads of room around us – we just seem to remember last year being rather short of space and being cramped.

The kids had a great time, although we definitely had the setup that suggested it was going to be a bad experience – let me explain…

We went to TGI Friday’s for lunch before heading over to Oxenhope, and Oliver just cried the whole time we were there – he did not want to eat, not did he seem to want to sleep.  The drugs (Calpol) did manage to rid the issue, but only after being 20 minutes on the way to Oxenhope (a 45 minute drive).  Then as we arrived, Elliot needed waking (never a great sign) and he woke in a pretty bad mood – fortunately he had managed to shrug off the issue by the time we got to the station platform 🙂

Elliot was reasonably shy when Father Christmas came through, and was very pleased with the gift he was given.  Oliver also really liked the teddy bear – THANK YOU FATHER CHRISTMAS.  We love you.

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

Well, we got a dusting of snow and it is 24 hours later and it is STILL here !!

Only 6 days to go and we are on for a white Christmas !!! 🙂

The boys went out Christmas shopping this morning and were actually pretty successful.

We then spent the afternoon playing in the conservatory.  I felt like the heating was actually struggling to keep the room warm in honesty this afternoon.  Given that it is to drop well below zero Celsius tonight, we have decided to leave the conservatory doors open with the expectation that the rest of the house will source the heat for the conservatory to simply pi&& away 🙁 At least it will cost less to get it warm in the morning.

Excitement is building as we are heading off for the Santa Express on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway tomorrow – really looking forward to it.  We will try to keep up with this tradition next year even though we will be in California.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Simon is sat in his office at home and noticed that it is indeed snowing outside !!! 🙂  White Christmas anyone?

It started very light but now 10 minutes in seems to be quite thick flakes – maybe just maybe we will have a covering later today – who knows.

Simon’s last day at work today, and he is really looking forward to some time out.  We have to arrange new passports for Simon and a passport (full stop) for Olly) as well as booking some flights and accommodation etc for the house hunting trip in late Feb.  All of this on top of late (as it always is with Simon) Christmas gift searching….

And before posting this entry, the snow has stopped – I guess most of you would have guessed that right? Oh well, maybe later on….

Now, it is later on – well 21:30 to be almost exact – anyway, it is snowing again and as I type there is a layer of snow on the car and driveway.  Maybe in the morning….
