Maui in the morning….

So we are here – less than 14 hours and we will be on board and ready to fly over to Maui.  We have just checked in and paid for our luggage ($20 per bag) as well as printed our boarding cards.  The bags are packed and we are all set…..

We have got the movies and game son the iPads ready for the 6 hour flight and the chargers etc are all in place to refuel the devices once we arrive.

Poor Olly has a bacterial infection under his left arm that needed antibiotics from the doctor today.  He is not really allowed in direct sunlight etc so the first couple of days might just be a bit of fun 🙁

Looking forward to relaxing for 7 whole days in the sun in our own little haven of paradise 🙂

Boys weekend in….

Mummy and Auntie Kerrie have head out to LA for the weekend (seeing Katy Perry, Universal Studios etc) leaving the boys here in Los Gatos for the weekend.

A weekend of XBOX 360 etc is underway 🙂

Yesterday, Elliot’s school friend Reid celebrated his 5th Birthday and had a pool party.  Elly, Olly and Daddy went along to celebrate with Reid.  It was a fun afternoon even if Elly only wanted to play with Olly in the sand pit and in the bouncy castle (when nobody else was in it).

Today we have been invited over to Amy and Jason’s although it is now 10:30 am and we were suposed to be there 30 minutes ago – the boys are not motivated to leaving the house today it seems.  We definitely need to get out on the bikes etc.

Mummy and Auntie Kerrie will not be back until after the boys are in bed – their flight is not until 8pm so they are not likely to be back at the house until after 11pm.

ONLY 3 more days and we will be IN MAUI !!!!! 🙂

The end of an era :-(

Following 6 weeks of internal torture, Simon finally decided and handed in his notice at the place that has shaped and defined his professional life and been a significant part of his personal life for the last 15 years.  Sadly, this also signals the end of our time out here in sunny Northern California, so we will be returning to the UK in early October for the last time on a work VISA sponsored by AppSense.

We are deeply saddened to be leaving our friends in CA behind, but know that the decision is right for the family (direct and levels away) so feel happy to be going back to the colder climate etc.

Sorry to Tim and Pepsi and Max who will now need to share their home with us but hurrah for Elliot who is deeply missing his “best friend” Tyler.

We’ll see our UK friends from mid October (the actual day that we board the plane in SFO will be EXACTLY 15 years to the day from the day that Simon walked through the door at Engineering Software in October 1996) – we have a little travelling to do before then…. 🙂

Great day out at the Raging Waters Water Park in San Jose, CA

We got there an hour or so before lunch and just in time to see the “neighbour” (cabana next door) taking “our” sun lounger.  Then, when Simon suggested that she ought not to be taking the lounger, apparently it was Simon who was being rude 🙂 Oh well, that soon got forgotten about, and we had 5 fun hours in the water and sun.

Typically, Elliot fell in the water on the first slide – didn’t go back on it 🙁  But he soon forgot about the water issue and played for hours in the park.

We had a great time, with Oliver having played for such a long time that he fell asleep in Vicky’s arms during the day !!! Anyone who knows Olly, knows that this is unheard of !!!

The countdown is on for Maui….. 10 days…… 🙂 🙂

Kerrie arrived

We went out on the bikes first thing this morning, then out to Palo Alto for lunch and to buy mummy her new Apple MacBook Air – we bought a 13″ model – very nice 🙂

We then went to Malibu Castle with the boys to play – it is an electronics arcade in Redwood City (just off 101) where most of the ‘games’ offer an opportunity to win paper based tokens that can be traded in for prizes when you are ready to leave.  We spent about an hour in there, and “won” two bags of marbles…. 🙂

Then, at 5pm we collected Kerri from the airport – the flight was about an hour late unfortuantely.

We have enjoyed a Papa John’s BBQ Chicken / Bacon pizza and a bottle of red 🙂

The boys actually went to sleep pretty well last night and slept right through – let’s just hope it stays this way for the next few weeks 🙂

Vicky has booked a cabana at Raging Waters (water park in San Jose) for tomorrow so we are hoping to have a great day in the sunshine….
