The end of an era :-(

Following 6 weeks of internal torture, Simon finally decided and handed in his notice at the place that has shaped and defined his professional life and been a significant part of his personal life for the last 15 years.  Sadly, this also signals the end of our time out here in sunny Northern California, so we will be returning to the UK in early October for the last time on a work VISA sponsored by AppSense.

We are deeply saddened to be leaving our friends in CA behind, but know that the decision is right for the family (direct and levels away) so feel happy to be going back to the colder climate etc.

Sorry to Tim and Pepsi and Max who will now need to share their home with us but hurrah for Elliot who is deeply missing his “best friend” Tyler.

We’ll see our UK friends from mid October (the actual day that we board the plane in SFO will be EXACTLY 15 years to the day from the day that Simon walked through the door at Engineering Software in October 1996) – we have a little travelling to do before then…. 🙂

Great day out at the Raging Waters Water Park in San Jose, CA

We got there an hour or so before lunch and just in time to see the “neighbour” (cabana next door) taking “our” sun lounger.  Then, when Simon suggested that she ought not to be taking the lounger, apparently it was Simon who was being rude 🙂 Oh well, that soon got forgotten about, and we had 5 fun hours in the water and sun.

Typically, Elliot fell in the water on the first slide – didn’t go back on it 🙁  But he soon forgot about the water issue and played for hours in the park.

We had a great time, with Oliver having played for such a long time that he fell asleep in Vicky’s arms during the day !!! Anyone who knows Olly, knows that this is unheard of !!!

The countdown is on for Maui….. 10 days…… 🙂 🙂

Kerrie arrived

We went out on the bikes first thing this morning, then out to Palo Alto for lunch and to buy mummy her new Apple MacBook Air – we bought a 13″ model – very nice 🙂

We then went to Malibu Castle with the boys to play – it is an electronics arcade in Redwood City (just off 101) where most of the ‘games’ offer an opportunity to win paper based tokens that can be traded in for prizes when you are ready to leave.  We spent about an hour in there, and “won” two bags of marbles…. 🙂

Then, at 5pm we collected Kerri from the airport – the flight was about an hour late unfortuantely.

We have enjoyed a Papa John’s BBQ Chicken / Bacon pizza and a bottle of red 🙂

The boys actually went to sleep pretty well last night and slept right through – let’s just hope it stays this way for the next few weeks 🙂

Vicky has booked a cabana at Raging Waters (water park in San Jose) for tomorrow so we are hoping to have a great day in the sunshine….

Daddy’s home

Daddy has been out in a Ski resort called Deer Park near Pak City in Utah (Salt Lake City is the nearest big city) although there is no snow there at the time of the year.  It has been the company’s annual corporate kick off event and a sales and technical enablement event to boot.  So Daddy left home on Tuesday morning early and got back this afternoon, in time for late lunch out.

We are expecting a visitor tomorrow who will be staying with us for around three weeks, so we have moved Olly into Elly’s bedroom – Olly is MEGA excited about sleeping in Elly’s room – Elly is not so sure yet – think he likes having his own room.  They have been up there just 15 minutes at this point and they are chatting away – something tells us that they are not going to be getting to sleep any time soon 🙁

Mummy has decided that an Apple MacBook Air might be a good idea after all, so we will go and buy one on the way to the airport to collect Kerrie.  Then on Sunday, we are heading to the San Jose water park – Vicky has booked a cabana so we will be lording it up all day long 🙂

Simon has also made a pretty big decision (Vicky in full support) this week that will unfold over the next few weeks so this is a little exciting, and a little worrying all at the same time – more on this subject in good time… 🙂
