P.T. Day 3…

Well, day three was not so good – all was going fine in the morning although this was (thinking back) down to hourly requests to visit the potty. Then once daddy decided to let Olly self select potty visits, it went ever so slightly wrong 🙁 We had both numbers one and two delivered and two was not a small item – involved strip off, clothes straight into the outside bin and Olly to the bath :-(. This felt like a massive set back that recovery from was going to be tough – the rest of the day went well with hourly reminders in play.

Hopefully day 4 will be a better day with more progress – we are yet to experience Olly realise he needs to go and head off by himself. Thus we still believe that while he can wee on demand, he does not know when he NEEDS to go…

Today will show us more….

P.T. day 2

Yesterday went slightly less well than Monday where we had two wet pants situations in relatively quick succession :-(. We thought that we could relax on the hourly alarm to remind us to pop him on the potty – to allow him to decide when he needed to go. Erm, that will be a no then…. 🙁

We quickly returned to hourly potty visit requests. this stopped the wet pants situations pretty quickly but does not feel like we are making progress. Oh well, we must continue along this course.

We have also initiated a reward system for each successful visit – we will see if this works today as we are now into day 3.

In unrelated news, we are trying to get ready to go swimming – we await to get swimming at least twice a week to get both boys in good shape before school starts again in September – we bought the bands that the school use so that they are settling in with the same equipment :-). come on mummy, hurry up….

Potty Training…

We have got to the point where we HAVE to get Olly potty trained so today is day 1.  We have had two accidents today and around 8 successful potty visits 🙂  We have also managed to get a large number 2 delivered to the potty also 🙂

Simon did try to begin the training yesterday, although got off to a bad start by trapping his leg between the toilet seat and the porcelain 🙁

All in all, we have done pretty well today although we don’t think that he has a clue when he is needing a wee, just gets frustrated with us for asking him to once again sit on the potty 🙁

Anyway, our plan is to spend this week getting a little wet, a lot frustrated, but with the plan to break the back of it…  Not a massive issue that it is raining heavily then 🙂 What a start for July….

Simon has also arranged for Chips Away to come out next Wednesday to repair the paintwork damage that he applied to the front of Bruce in the school car park last week 🙁  Sadly he thought he was OK when doing tight maneuvers around the back of school, and caught the bumper on the school wall.  A couple of hundred pounds will see it sorted by Wednesday afternoon 🙂

Upgraded rings

A month ago we were in a jewellers in Sheffield collecting some earrings with Vicky’s mum – we ended up buying upgraded rings for Vicky – all three American rings were upgraded to Platinum from their white gold starting point.  It would take approximately one month.  At the same time, Simon found a new platinum wedding band but opted to wait for Vicky’s to be ready before collecting.  Well, today was the day to collect.  Vicky’s three rings look sensational and although they were intentionally made the same as the white gold settings, they do look a better in that they seem to fit alongside each other much better.

A slightly unnecessary set of purchases, but one that we are very pleased that we have done 🙂

School’s out for summer

Last day (or half day) yesterday at school and it sure was an emotional day. It started with a whole school assembly in the morning where there weren’t many dry eyes in the chapel. Mrs Grunwell had then arranged for the children to release a helium balloon each from the quadrant in the middle of the school – sadly the rain somewhat caused a challenge with this as it had the effect of removing the ability for most balloons to float :-(. The children still enjoyed themselves however.

There were little teddy bears all around the school – one each for t he children to commemorate the school closure and thus it was printed with how long the school was in service.

Then we collected the children at 12:15 and poor Elliot was uncontrollably upset at this being his last day and possibly the last time he would see Miss Bedford ever. He is still not quite right this morning 🙁 In fact, yesterday morning Elliot was awake at 4:30am feeling stomach pains. We think it was all his emotions in advance of the day ahead 🙁

We had a lovely lunch with some other parents and children down at Frankie and Benny’s in Wakefield – took some getting there as the rain has caused masses of flooding all over the place in the Wakefield area.

Hopefully the flooding in the area will have subsided as we are heading down to Sheffield as Vick’s rings are now ready and so we will be collecting today (weather permitting).

Finally, we went out for dinner in Horbury with a large group of the Reception class parents. We had a fab night and have arranged to do it all again in 6 weeks or so, and agreed to get the kids together in the mean time.
