Ed’s Birthday weekend in Middleton on Leven

Finally, it is Ed’s turn to hit the big 4-0 so we have rented a lovely house out in North Yorks for the weekend.

The boys head out on Saturday mid-morning to a place up the coast in Seaham where we got to play in mud buggies for around an hour 🙂

Initially we wer disappointed as the organisers said that we couldn’t use their standard course as it was too muddy 🙁 however, they popped us on a longer course that we think was significantly better 🙂 Take a look at how it turned out 😀

Half way through we stopped and turfed out about 5lbs of mud and ripped up grass 🙂

A sensational day was had with a lovely meal cooked for us in the house by personal chef Matthew Brown – what a fantastic meal…. Will try to find more pictures soon and get them posted.

   
   

New Years walk

We took a picnic to Rother Valley Park this morning and took the dog for a nice long walk in the muddy fields around the lake. 

This year was a little different to the last time we were there in that we have Hugo now and the fact that it was not horizontal raining today 🙂 we also got to watch some jet-bikers skipping around the smaller jet-ski lake – those bad boys didn’t sound much but by crikey they were FAST.

Hugo managed a two hour wander around with no intention of weeing despite being placed in ideal grassy circumstances for at least 20 minutes at the end of the walk – then promptly weed in the car less than 5 minutes after having got in, while we were getting out of our wellies etc 🙁

Thankfully he stayed clean and dry for the remainder of the journey as we called into Coast to Coast restaurant in Sheffield’s Centertainment area 🙂

Then homeward for a cheeky New Yeara Gin and Lemonade 🙂 Such sweet joys …

Hokkaido night

Last night we went out with Martin, Tracy, Chris and Nic to the Japanese restaurant, Hokkaido in Wakefield – a really fun evening with friends and a novel dining experience with the food all cooked on a hot plate right in front of our eyes. It was a £45 per head gig including a good amount of drinks so not a super cheap meal, but then a really nice experience to boot. 

Don’t think We would return as just a couple as this is definitely a group experience. We all came out having enjoys the food and experience but we all agreed to still feeling a little hungry.

We have (or Vicky has) taken down all of the Christmas decorations and Simon has put them away for another year – just the outside lights to go but these can wait until just after the New Year.

Last night was our evening in Sheffield with Lee, Caroline, Ed and Sharron – we managed to get on the road just afte 5pm, so got sat down at the Coast to Coast restaurant by 6:15 for a nice burger based meal before the show.

The show started at just after 8pm with a warm up act who was a Yorkshireman – pretty funny guy – we had a 25 minute interval before Michael finally came on – he was of course awesome and had us creased with laughter for most of the session. He was on for almost 1.5 hours which sadly disappeared in no time at all.

A great evening out with good friends – need to do more stuff like this 🙂
