Great weekend in the Lakes

We have just got home from a fab weekend in the Lakes – the weather was absolutely stunning – perhaps the last good weather weekend of the year maybe??

Brockhole – TreeTop Trek – October 2012

Check out the above video (20Mb – as a note this is an M4V file hidden as an AVI to make it stream OK – would not play as native m4v for some reason :-() for quick action shots from the TreeTop Trek setup in Brockhole Visitor Centre – it is really cool but slightly expensive to ride – i.e. Β£26 for the full gig just felt like a lot of cash….

We have of course grabbed a few packs of Gingerbread from Grasmere GingerBread and as alway are wondering why we do not go more often. Β If only we had more time and less Children’s Birthday Parties πŸ™‚

Windermere with the Box’s

This weekend we are enjoying life up in the lakes. We set off yesterday morning once we were all up and ready. Mummy had been out at a charity do with the mums from school on Friday and daddy and the boys got an early night in πŸ™‚

We got here for about 1pm and had lunch at the Sun Hotel with the Box’s. Then we head over to Brockholes for a couple of hours and then on to a play park in Grasmere (will be heading back for some Gingerbread on Monday prior to heading home πŸ™‚ )

The weather has been nice with lots of sunshine – although it is v clear that it has done a LOT of raining in recent days / weeks – ground v waterlogged…

The air is (as usual) wonderfully fresh and we are hoping to enjoy a full day out in it today, then head homeward tomorrow afternoon sometime πŸ™‚

Sledging fun

We all went to Xscape in Castleford this afternoon and the boys all went into the snow area sledging for Gracie’s birthday party.

We all got kitted out and ventured in and wandered up the slope. Olly just wanted to GO so he just set off, Daddy chased after and so Elly was in tears at the top of the slope :-(. Once we all got the the bottom, that little issue was quickly cleared up and we were off – all having a great time – Elly soon got over being worried about daddy leaving him at the top of the slope and soon became the little smart alec who raced off first to ensure that he ‘won’ the race. πŸ™‚

Here are the only two photos daddy managed to get during the action – apologies for the lack of quality πŸ™

We were all doing great for about 40 minutes until poor Olly fell off his sled at the bottom of the slope and fell forward – a face full of the cold stuff. He was NOT a happy bunny :-(. So, given daddy went in on his own with both boys, it was a case of either Elly stayed and played with his friends or he came out with Olly and daddy – Olly wanted out – he was cold and wet and very unhappy. So, Elly begrudgingly decided to come out as well.

We will have to go and do that again sometime as the boys LOVED it – except the face dive of course πŸ™‚

Then daddy, reversed mummy’s car into the fence at home :-(. as we reversed onto the driveway, Mummy pointed out a potential issue with daddy’s car, daddy foolishly looked for said problem and boom…. :-(. Thankfully the scratches have all polished out but the is still a small dent on the drivers side rear wing that will most likely need professional help to pop out – but it should pop out OK from what we can tell. Given that Emily (daddy’s new car) has a small dent on the roof that needs removing, then we can get both done at the same time πŸ™‚

Weekend with the Connors

Matt, Sara, Eleanor and Jessica came on Saturday afternoon and stayed until early this afternoon. Itcwas great to catchup and to watch the kids enjoy playing together. It really helped that we were lucky to enjoy wonderful weather with blue skies both days and lovely hot sunshine to boot πŸ™‚

The kids have played together wonderfully, inside and out. They got on so well, that they even slept in the same rooms πŸ™‚ Jessica and Olly kept each other company and Eleanor and Elliot did for a while. Elliot feigned some arm injury so ended up sleeping with us in the end though πŸ™‚

We (the adults) cracked open a few beers,Chen bottles of wine (red for the boys and champagne for the girls).while we played with the Kinect on the XBOX. Vicky demonstrated that she was somewhat unbeatable at Kinect Boxing, while Matt showed us how long jump and javelin was done πŸ™‚

Some muppet suggested sambuca and it all got a tad out of hand, so we decided enough was enough just before 2am πŸ™‚

A great weekend with great friends and wonderful weather that enabled TWO BBQs πŸ™‚

Happy days…
