Long journey but a good first day it seems

Elliot arrived in Cape Town, 24 hours after leaving the house. They are only 1 hour ahead of us in the UK, so the big flight was essentially through the night (almost 11 hours).

Rather frustratingly, he was awarded a centre seat with little legroom so apparently did not get a great deal of sleep. That and the fact that they went straight into a South African rugby training session was a winner 🙂

Anyway, says he has had a great first day and managed to get a little sunburn on his neck – dipstick

Whernside Walk

Elliot and dad went to the dales (Ribblehead) with some of dad’s work friends first thing this morning and set out on a walk up (and down) the Whernside mountain (one of the Yorkshire. 3 peaks).

It was 8 miles of pretty tough terrain in the cold and wet (misty rather than full on raining).

We completed it in just under 3.5 hours and then enjoyed 3 hours in the pub for a terrific pub lunch and a few cheeky beers.

Don’t think Elliot will join us for more of them and certainly not for the full 3 peaks but we are both delighted to have accomplished this one for now 🙂

Mock GCSE time….

Today is the first day of 9 days of Mock examination for Elliot. He has done his prep and we hope is as ready as he can be .

Good luck Elliot – relax, read each question over and over until you feel you have a good understanding before thinking about how to approach it.

You have got this !
