I don’t have five hands you know

Funny little ditty from Olly yesterday.

He had been told by mummy that he had to tidy his bedroom (as it was a bit of a tip) and as he came out quietly to go and play (without having performed said tidy up) mummy caught him and this time demanded that he go back in his room to tidy it BEFORE coming out to play.  He wandered back in complaining and then when challenged on his complaints utter the (now famous) words “I don’t have five hands you know” as he got on with the task at hand.

Yet more evidence of what we have to look forward to in his future 🙂

There were four in the bed and Mummy said….

“Oh bollocks”

S’right, we were all in bed last night from 9pm – apparently Olly’s bed was “too freezing” and when Elly found out he beep beeped too.

At about 11pm Mummy got up “to go to the toilet” – she didn’t come back…

Found asleep in the spare room this morning…

Daddy has taken a big step in mobile communications – 3

After careful thought, Daddy has taken a pretty big step and bought a 12 month contract with 3. It is a sim only deal and costs just £15 a month for unlimited (and tether able) data, 2000 minute of calls and 5000 texts a month. The winning combo was the unlimited data that can be tethered to other devices AND the fact that the phone can be used in many countries (US being the key one) and the fact that the existing allowances are all available to be used while there at no extra cost. Yes, that’s right, daddy can use his phone for unlimited data in the UK AND US as well as for 2000 minutes a month in the UK or US (so long as calling UK numbers of course).

There is clearly some issue over whether the 3 network is suitable for voice calls although is well known as being a very good data network.

Let’s wait to see if he begins to complain about the network in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, it will be fab and in which case we will look to fear Mummy’s over as well. £42 to £15 a month is a winning price 🙂

Bedroom TV

Finally, the TV in the bedroom is completed with the lifter in the cabinet working beautifully. There was a small issue with the TV fouling the base of the lifter unit that meant the lifter was not happy and consequently lifted the TV an inch or so back up – making the cabinet lid be open ever so slightly.

To fix the issue, Simon cut some 12mm tube spacers and bought some extra long screws to force the TV to be a further inch away from the lifter. The result was that the problem was instantly fixed 🙂

Now all that remains is to consider using wired networking rather than making use of wireless LAN for the TV (Smart TV functions such as iPlayer and the like) – the wireless LAN appears to not quite be capable to hold a connection long enough to run an entire show.

Actually, there is a challenge with the Blu Ray player and how it fits into the cabinet such that we can easily insert discs and watch them. At the moment it is just sat in the base of the unit so is sub-optimal.
