It took now more than 24 hours for Daddy to get frightened of the face that he uncovered a coupe of weeks back π
Therefore the beard growth has been allowed to continue…. Long live the beard…. Sorry Olly π

Poor Pepsi has had a growth / lump on his back between his shoulders for a few months now and at his last check up we asked about it and whether it would need attention. The vet asked if it was troubling him – subsequently suggested that it is probably best to leave it alone given his age and the fact that it wasn’t giving him any agro.
Well, last weekend we walked into the kitchen to find a reasonable amount of blood on the floor – we hurried around trying to find where it had all come from – it seemed that the dopey sod had scratched it and consequently it bled.
It hasn’t got any better as the week has progressed so we took him in to have his claws clipped and the lump checked. The vet shaved the area to find that it (the lump) has grown quite a bit since it was last checked and sadly it is weeping puss – hence it stinks – definitely a significant source of smell from the old lad π
Anyway, we debated the pros and cons and realised that the best course of action was to take him in and have it removed – he is only going to keep scratting at it and causing it to bleed etc – plus there’s the awful smell π
So, he is booked in for Monday – let’s hope it all goes to plan and he comes out feeling sleepy but less smelly….
Simon ordered a Chris King Inset 3 headset for his mountain bike this week and paid for it over the telephone tonight. It a has been ordered from the old LBS (local bike shop) when we used to live in Los Gatos, CA. By buying from the LBS,cSimon has saved around Β£40 so he is sticking with this as his justification…
He will collect it enroute from the the airport to Rich and Clare’s place π
Happy days – just needs to collect it and arrange for it to be fitted to Barbara when we get back to Blighty…
Finally,we have got a secured spare wheel back on Bruce. Simon located a decent eBay purchase from Stockport as the wheel replacement, Sam B sorted the new winch and Simon also secured an eBay purchase for additional security to wrap around the spare to prevent opportunists from being able to quickly snip the wheel off like last time…
So the car is now all set for the trip to Halifax to drop Pepsi off at Grannies and then the long trip down to Heathrow in the afternoon in readiness for Vicky and the boys heading over to California…
Sunday 13th July 2014 at 2pm – the date and time for Lee’s 40th driving bash at the old aerodrome at Sherburn in Elmut – Nissan Skyline GTR and Ariel Atom – and Simon was invited along to play…..
We checked in an hour early as per the request and sat and watched….
Aston Vantage, Aston DB9, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Coupe, Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 355, Ferrari 360, Nissan Skyline GTR, Vauxhall Monaro VRX, McLaren MP12-4C and the Ariel Atom were the hardware on offer…
Lee and Simon were concerned that either the folks didn’t allow the drivers to give it the beans OR the actual drivers were mainly pussies π
We soon found out as we boarded the GTR first, with Lee in first to open the taps – and BOY did he π He thinks he touched 160 down the back straight !!!!! Simon only managed a little over 145 on the same straight so he is clearly added to the “pussies” section of the day π The GTR was an awesome piece of machinery that got itself wound up nicely VERY quickly – certainly a tool that would be very dangerous in the wrong hands on the roads….
Simon’s immediate thought was that the DB9 was the odd one out in many ways – it is a grand tourer, not a balls out track car – however it was strangely more popular than the GTR – just wierd….
Then onto the Atom – HOLY HELL – what a machine – 6 speed manual vs. the paddle shift 6 of the GTR and once you let rip on the right pedal, a swift gear change or 4 became violently needed. Christ this is a car that SHIFTS and then doesn’t really need speed to be lowered to make it round the corners – by way of an example, there was a corner that the GTR took in 3rd under moderate throttle that the Atom took in 5th with the pedal to the floor !!!!
We finished the day off with a nice meal with a cold beer (or two) at Pizza Express π
What a day and what fun – if you ever get the opportunity to test either of these beasts out on a track, DO IT – you will not be disappointed.
