Elliot’s Yellow Belt Presentation

Monday night martial arts training followed by Elliot’s presentation of his Yellow belt from the grading a week last Saturday.

The boys are doing really well in their training at present, with Elliot’s kicks and punches getting stronger by the week it would seem :-). Poor Oliver is having a little wobble at the moment as he is not finding it as much fun as he did a month or so ago – being in the new class is just having an impact on him – I.e. None of his old classmates are in this class and he is no longer one of the largest in the class. Hence he is having a wobble about not being able to do it πŸ™ He just needs to practise more of course πŸ™‚

Disney on Ice

Today, we went down to Sheffield’s MotorPoint Arena for the 100 years of Disney, Disney on Ice. We went with a few of Oliver’s friends from school and had some great seats with a perfect view of all the action. There was one and a half hours of skating action with some incredible dancing and story telling going on. The kids were all sat back in amazement for the majority of the show πŸ™‚ as always we are reminded that we really should do more stuff like this – a really fun few hours…

A quick trip to Pizza Express after the show for lunch / dinner and then home to watch the Polar Express.

Christmas is beginning in the Rust household πŸ™‚

Elliot’s Taekwondo Yellow Belt Grading

This morning was the time for Elliot’s Yellow Belt grading at Ossett Martial Arts. He has been studying hard for this one as there is LOTS to remember and be able to talk to during the grading. The grading took an hour in total and he absolutely aced it πŸ™‚ He graded with an A πŸ™‚

See the link below for the pattern – not all of it was captured sadly, but 95% was…

Happy Hallowe’en

The boys had a Hallowe’en party with 6 of their friends (each) with party games, trick or treating and lots of fun.

As can be seen the conservatory was the main party area, but the kids ended up simply running around the house with lots of screaming and laughter πŸ™‚

April and Helen (two of the mums from Year 1) did LOADS to help Vicky get the party setup and rolling including the following (from Helen) tub of gunge for the kids to dip into for prizes πŸ™‚

The kids each took a turn in sticking a paw in and rummaging for gold πŸ™‚ But when one of the parents offered a crisp Β£10 note for anyone who would put their face in – clearly Simon was straight in…

Nice….

Finally, we popped the rest of the slime bucket on the front doorstep for the teenage trick or treaters that came round after 8pm – strangely enough they were less than keen to go in search of their treat πŸ™‚ Perhaps this will be an annual plan to keep the pesky older ones from taking all the goodies leaving the youngsters with nada… πŸ˜€

Daddy lost his voice

As he got off the train on Thursday evening and asked the taxi driver to take him home to Ossett, daddy quickly realised that his voice had been left on the train….

As the weekend has progressed, the voice has not come back yet, although a painful sore throat has become more and more obvious πŸ™ it gets significantly worse overnight as swallowing becomes a challenge that he does not wish to participate in and it seemingly take a few hours once awake to become less painful πŸ™

Hoping to be OK again tomorrow morning as daddy is not looking forward to heading down to London with this pain πŸ™

The boys finished school for the two week half term break on Friday evening and so far, thankfully, never of them have demonstrated that they have any symptoms of the throat / voice issues πŸ™‚

Hopefully they have dodged it πŸ™‚
