Santa Special on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

Today was the big day on the steam train – unfortunately there had been aΒ  lot of rain overnight so part of the track between Haworth and Keighley had been covered over with a landslide !!! SO the train was going up 3 times between Oxenhope and Haworth instead of making the entire trip down to Keighley and back.

Father Christmas was still there fortunately so he was able to chat with Elliot on the train all the same.

We are all finished for Christmas now, so 2 weeks of hopefully relaxation is on the way πŸ™‚

Simon in New York in the hot, no cold, no hot…

On Monday, Simon travelled out to New York for the week – and when he arrived it was 19 degrees Celsius – yes, that’s right, 19 degrees in mid December !!!! Very pleased he was wearing a shirt, fleece jacket AND large knee length overcoat πŸ™ The taxi journey to the hotel was a 45 minute sweat box πŸ™

Then, Tuesday, it snowed !!!

He has woken this AM not sure whether he will need to go and buy suncream or cold sore cream !!

Will be home on Friday and then we are done for work for 2008 – looking forward to some time at home with Vicky and Elliot and bump.

20 week scan today :-)

Simon got back from his overnight in London this morning and this afternoon was the 20 week scan.Β  We arrived in good time, and amazingly were almost straight in – result.Β  Well, not quite, our little cherub decided that it was time to sleep so the sonographer was unable to get the full readings on the heart (we could see it beating just fine, but she could not get in on the actual details of the heart) or could she get to see the feet.Β  The little monkey was sound asleep and was not up for showing us πŸ™

So, we had to go out and wait for 30 minutes until we could have another go – same result – great.

Another 40 minute wait demonstrated that yet again we were not going ot be allowed to see the heart in full swing, nor the feet at all – little monkey.

The result ? We have to go back at a later date to complete the scan πŸ™

Other than this irritation he is 100% OK.Β  That’s right, we said he πŸ™‚ Just need to find some names now …. Any suggestions are most welcome

One weekend, TWO Father Christmas visits… :-)

We have had a great weekend with lots of stuff on the agenda.Β  Saturday was Emily-Mae’s 3rd Birthday party at the Ponderosa in Heckmondwike – a very cool morning spent feeding llama’s, pigs,Β  goats etc.Β  Elliot loved it of course, but was typically less keen to go and talk to Father Christmas after the feeding – although the little toy that he received has not been put down since πŸ™‚

Then, today (Sunday) we went down to Sundown Adventure land near Retford, Lincolnshire with David, Julie and Abbie.Β  While it was cold, they had little stalls selling soup and hotdogs and alcohol free mulled wine (v nice it turns out).Β  The hour long wait for the tractor ride was painful but worthwhile according to Elliot and the hour and a half wait for Father Christmas was let down only by Elliot’s lack of wanting to see him at all, once he realised why he had queued for so long.Β  It was one of the best Father Christmas setups I think we have ever seen – just a shame it took so long to get there πŸ™

It has been a little warmer this weekend than during the week, which definitely made the two trips much better – given that they were both outdoors πŸ™‚

Hair cut sir?

Wouldn’t usually make the news but the boys had their hair cut today – must have been three months since Elliot last had it cut – was beginning to look like a little sheep πŸ™‚

We had snow again today – couple of inches before we awoke – unfortunately Elliot didn’t get the chance to play out in it, as it has rained pretty much all day and by this evening, it had pretty much all gone πŸ™

Perhaps next time ?
