It’s not even 4pm and is almost DARK :-(

Sadly, it is dark and cold…. πŸ™

Seems that it will be dark when the kids finish school soon πŸ™ Β That said, in 19 days we will be generally be getting lighter and lighter as we head away from the shortest daylight day πŸ™‚

Oh well, only 6 more school days for our boys for 2012 from tomorrow πŸ™‚

Afternoon out in Wetherby…

We have had a plan to go out for lunch and then on to Stockeld Park in Wetherby with the Drewetts for a couple of weeks now.

We had a lovely lunch at the Fox and Hounds pub in Walton, near Wetherby – it was a wonderful meal with a fabulous Apple and Pear Crumble to end πŸ™‚

Then we head over to Stockeld Park, only to be told (as we drove in) that they have experienced a burst water pipe and that the park was closing πŸ™ Β It was planned by Vicky to get there to have time for a leisurely walk around the enchanted forest and to then see all the lights come on as dusk kicked in, so as a result time was not on our side for much else πŸ™

Lee suggested heading over to the designer outlet village in York as they have a little amusement park set up for Christmas. Β It was really nice when we got there (OK so a little cold) but the kids all got to go on the helterskelter and the other roundabout type of rides as well as having a go at knocking skittles down type stalls and hook a duck etc.

A great save from what could have been a disastrous afternoon – guess we will hold the Stockeld Park visit for another day πŸ™‚

Great day on the Mountain bikes at Llandegla, Wales

Yesterday, daddy, uncle Tim, Cousin James and Lee (Jessica from Elliot’s class daddy) head out to Llandegla in North Wales for a trip out with the mountain bikes. It was a cold (2C) start ad didn’t get any warmer but there was no wind and no rain to speak of so it did not actually feel very cold.

We all did around 12 to 14 miles depending on whether the black routes were taken or not. all told, it took somewhere in the region of 3 1/2 hours to complete and we all had a great time. suspect that daddy and Cousin James may just feel a tad sore either today or tomorrow as it has been a while since last doing this sort of thing and this was a MONSTER of a ride…

Daddy had leg issues from about mile 9 where his thighs were just worn out plain and simple :-). Perhaps taking the black run was not the smartest idea after all :-). Very pleased to have done it though πŸ™‚

Elliot went to a birthday part in Dewsbury with mummy for two of the children in his year at school – it was a go-karting party with battery powered karts. The kids all had a great time it seems.

Today we are heading out for lunch in Walton, near Wetherby and then a couple of hours at Stockeld Park with Jessica and parents. Hopefully the rain / snow will hold off for us πŸ™‚
