Lahaina, Maui – Day 1

We all got a reasonable night sleep (poor Olly was up at 3am with raging temperature etc) and were ready to go this morning. We head out in the car to get some bits that we had not managed to buy last night such as a paddling pool for Olly – so he can still play in the water albeit in the shade while his infection rights itself (the doctor wants him to not get much direct sunlight) – and some pool toys and some sand toys for when we head to the beach. We had lunch at a beach grill in the Whalers Village overlooking the ocean, and then head back to bathe in the pool and grab some of those beautiful rays falling from the sky 🙂

Elly is so confident in the water it is almost worrying and Olly just wants in – he totally unaware of the risks of the water it seems. Hopefully by the end of this little holiday he will have an idea and be more capable in the water like Elly.

The boys all test drove the jacuzzi in the master bathroom and The littlest boys are looking forward to a great nights sleep 🙂 They are just SO tired

Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings…

Sensational Maui

We set off at 9am this morning for San Jose airport, to find the flight delayed :-(. Turns out this worked in our favour as we were offered an upgrade to first class for $150 each – 5 seats please 🙂 We took all of row 1 and Kerrie took place to sleep on row 2

Poor Olly was poorly on the flight with his temperature soaring to 40 degrees C and the drugs barely able to control it 🙁 All this on top of the fact that he has antibiotics for the bacterial infection on his left side. Poor little mouse 🙁

Anyway, flight was about 2 hours delayed but the rental car was waiting patiently for us and the kids car seats were in place as well so now messing around there. We made a stop at Costco to stock up on beers and wine etc ( this is toning to be a MEGA relaxing trip if the quantity o spirits is anything to go by 🙂 ).

The rental house was just 30 minutes drive from the airport etc and when we arrived…..

OH MY GOD – the place is clearly one of the nicest houses we have seen – breathtaking view, fab pool / spa and three very well appointed bedrooms. A mega media / entertainment system including surround sound, 60inch tv, cable, Wii, outdoor music etc

There is also an outdoor kitchen area with bar and BBQ – so not sure if we going to find time to actually leave the house …. 🙂

Not going to be able to post pictures since we only brought phones and iPads with us sadly. 🙁

Maui in the morning….

So we are here – less than 14 hours and we will be on board and ready to fly over to Maui.  We have just checked in and paid for our luggage ($20 per bag) as well as printed our boarding cards.  The bags are packed and we are all set…..

We have got the movies and game son the iPads ready for the 6 hour flight and the chargers etc are all in place to refuel the devices once we arrive.

Poor Olly has a bacterial infection under his left arm that needed antibiotics from the doctor today.  He is not really allowed in direct sunlight etc so the first couple of days might just be a bit of fun 🙁

Looking forward to relaxing for 7 whole days in the sun in our own little haven of paradise 🙂

Boys weekend in….

Mummy and Auntie Kerrie have head out to LA for the weekend (seeing Katy Perry, Universal Studios etc) leaving the boys here in Los Gatos for the weekend.

A weekend of XBOX 360 etc is underway 🙂

Yesterday, Elliot’s school friend Reid celebrated his 5th Birthday and had a pool party.  Elly, Olly and Daddy went along to celebrate with Reid.  It was a fun afternoon even if Elly only wanted to play with Olly in the sand pit and in the bouncy castle (when nobody else was in it).

Today we have been invited over to Amy and Jason’s although it is now 10:30 am and we were suposed to be there 30 minutes ago – the boys are not motivated to leaving the house today it seems.  We definitely need to get out on the bikes etc.

Mummy and Auntie Kerrie will not be back until after the boys are in bed – their flight is not until 8pm so they are not likely to be back at the house until after 11pm.

ONLY 3 more days and we will be IN MAUI !!!!! 🙂

The end of an era :-(

Following 6 weeks of internal torture, Simon finally decided and handed in his notice at the place that has shaped and defined his professional life and been a significant part of his personal life for the last 15 years.  Sadly, this also signals the end of our time out here in sunny Northern California, so we will be returning to the UK in early October for the last time on a work VISA sponsored by AppSense.

We are deeply saddened to be leaving our friends in CA behind, but know that the decision is right for the family (direct and levels away) so feel happy to be going back to the colder climate etc.

Sorry to Tim and Pepsi and Max who will now need to share their home with us but hurrah for Elliot who is deeply missing his “best friend” Tyler.

We’ll see our UK friends from mid October (the actual day that we board the plane in SFO will be EXACTLY 15 years to the day from the day that Simon walked through the door at Engineering Software in October 1996) – we have a little travelling to do before then…. 🙂
