Awesome afternoon at the Leeds Raceway

Sunday 13th July 2014 at 2pm – the date and time for Lee’s 40th driving bash at the old aerodrome at Sherburn in Elmut – Nissan Skyline GTR and Ariel Atom – and Simon was invited along to play…..

We checked in an hour early as per the request and sat and watched….

Aston Vantage, Aston DB9, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Coupe, Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 355, Ferrari 360, Nissan Skyline GTR, Vauxhall Monaro VRX, McLaren MP12-4C and the Ariel Atom were the hardware on offer…

Lee and Simon were concerned that either the folks didn’t allow the drivers to give it the beans OR the actual drivers were mainly pussies 🙁

We soon found out as we boarded the GTR first, with Lee in first to open the taps – and BOY did he 🙂 He thinks he touched 160 down the back straight !!!!! Simon only managed a little over 145 on the same straight so he is clearly added to the “pussies” section of the day 🙁 The GTR was an awesome piece of machinery that got itself wound up nicely VERY quickly – certainly a tool that would be very dangerous in the wrong hands on the roads….

Simon’s immediate thought was that the DB9 was the odd one out in many ways – it is a grand tourer, not a balls out track car – however it was strangely more popular than the GTR – just wierd….

Then onto the Atom – HOLY HELL – what a machine – 6 speed manual vs. the paddle shift 6 of the GTR and once you let rip on the right pedal, a swift gear change or 4 became violently needed. Christ this is a car that SHIFTS and then doesn’t really need speed to be lowered to make it round the corners – by way of an example, there was a corner that the GTR took in 3rd under moderate throttle that the Atom took in 5th with the pedal to the floor !!!!

We finished the day off with a nice meal with a cold beer (or two) at Pizza Express 🙂

What a day and what fun – if you ever get the opportunity to test either of these beasts out on a track, DO IT – you will not be disappointed.

Tax return morning…

This morning has seen us complete our 2013-14 TAX returns – a hair pulling experience as each year passes.  Thankfully this is the last year that Simon needed to account for Atimeo given the business was closed off in August, but it still caused an amount of pain this morning.

Anyway, we are now through it for another year and while we have a rebate on the way, it is not as much as we thought – Simon earned 700UKP too much accordingly which has had a knock on effect with some child payments that mean we have to return all of those payments from the year – grr..

Anyway, a cheque is still on the way and more importantly the whole thing is complete and out of the way for another year 😀 YAY!!

Next up, school fees…. gone up by 300UKP per month as Oliver moves up to Year 1 – yippee…

Great weekend in the lakes with fab friends

We just returned early this morning from a fab weekend in the lakes – we stayed at the Windermere Marina Village (Grandma and Grandpa Rust used to stay there so was nice for us to have the opportunity to do so this weekend) in cottage number 4, the Ambleside.

We enjoyed SENSATIONAL weather – something that we have seemingly ALWAYS enjoyed when coming up here with Ed, Sharon and Gracie Box, so hopefully this will continue to be the case as and when we all venture up here again in the future 🙂

We started out by going for a beautiful walk around Tarn Hows above Hawkshead, where the boys LOVED the ferry across the middle of Lake Windermere on the way and then found the cow poop around the walk hilarious in true Rust fashion…

We also played in the park at Grasmere and poor Olly had a case of the targets.

The day finished with a fantastic (as always) Magic Wok takeaway, where we found out that a delivery service is available – winner.

Sunday was a day where we went to Ambleside to the relatively new indoor climbing wall where Elliot got stuck in while mummy, daddy and Olly watched on – daddy still whinging about the shoulder he hurt last weekend on the bike – mummy still has no time for the whinging 🙁

Daddy took on the role of videographer and photographer – some pretty good shots taken – take a look in the gallery for details of the photos – should be pictured below for convenience.

Looking forward to getting another weekend booked in soon – such a great time had by all – the kids will all sleep very well over the coming few days 🙂

Bruce passed his MoT – THEFT of SPARE WHEEL :-(

Great news of course but in the process of having it done, we have found that some son of a bitch has stolen the spare wheel from under the car – we have no idea when this happened or of course where…

Just a frayed steel (guess security cable) left hanging in place…

ARSE !!

Netflix has arrived in ForkHall

Last week daddy decided to trail NetFlix in the household – don’t think it will be quite as easy to remove it from the household as it was to install….. 🙂

The kids LOVE it and despite needing to change the logon name Simon to Daddy (apparently Olly finds daddy’s real name hilarious – pronounced Si  mon apparently – 40 years and it seems that Simon has actually been pronouncing his name incorrectly… 🙁 ) they are beginning to use it instead of YouTube – that being said, they had YouTube removed from their iPads since they were beginning to watch inappropriate things again 🙁  Elliot has renewed his love for the Power Rangers (Samurai of course) and Olly just watches all of the animated stuff over and over…

Vicky has also been watching a few of the TV shows that are available on it. In fact, we found the first series of “Death in Paradise”, a BBC show that we picked up from the beginning of the second series, and so this last few nights we have been catching up on it.

For £6.99 a month, so far it seesm to be a total winner and works really nicely on the TV’s with the Google ChromeCast installed into them, and like the XBMC solution, we can pause the show on one TV and resume it straight away on another – AWESOME.

Obv question, why did we not go for it earlier…..
