Ice, Ice, baby

Wow – we woke up to MEGA ice on the roads etc this morning ๐Ÿ™

Poor Elliot ended up falling on his backside not more than 6 feet from the garage door ๐Ÿ™

The cul-de-sac and surrounding roads were ice skating rinks – as in too dangerous to walk on AT ALL. ย Bruce performed a faultless 30 feet powerslide at the bottom of the cul-de-sac as we head up Constable Drive ๐Ÿ™‚

By lunchtime, we have got rain and 5 Celcius and so the majority of the ice has now gone ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s not even 4pm and is almost DARK :-(

Sadly, it is dark and cold…. ๐Ÿ™

Seems that it will be dark when the kids finish school soon ๐Ÿ™ ย That said, in 19 days we will be generally be getting lighter and lighter as we head away from the shortest daylight day ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh well, only 6 more school days for our boys for 2012 from tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

Afternoon out in Wetherby…

We have had a plan to go out for lunch and then on to Stockeld Park in Wetherby with the Drewetts for a couple of weeks now.

We had a lovely lunch at the Fox and Hounds pub in Walton, near Wetherby – it was a wonderful meal with a fabulous Apple and Pear Crumble to end ๐Ÿ™‚

Then we head over to Stockeld Park, only to be told (as we drove in) that they have experienced a burst water pipe and that the park was closing ๐Ÿ™ ย It was planned by Vicky to get there to have time for a leisurely walk around the enchanted forest and to then see all the lights come on as dusk kicked in, so as a result time was not on our side for much else ๐Ÿ™

Lee suggested heading over to the designer outlet village in York as they have a little amusement park set up for Christmas. ย It was really nice when we got there (OK so a little cold) but the kids all got to go on the helterskelter and the other roundabout type of rides as well as having a go at knocking skittles down type stalls and hook a duck etc.

A great save from what could have been a disastrous afternoon – guess we will hold the Stockeld Park visit for another day ๐Ÿ™‚
