Bedroom half done :-) And fitness a go-go…

The chap that is building our bedroom furniture is really cracking on well – he should be done by Thursday night – a full day early – spot on given we are heading North for the weekend 🙂

It looks better than we imagined it would and the lights etc that are built into it are pretty neat.  The main wardrobes and bed side cabinets should be fully completed today leaving the entranceway to be finished tomorrow.

Mummy has been out in search of bed linens and shirts for the buys (and a pair of replacement pants for Olly – he seems to have lost a little weight since just before Christmas so his suit pants are too big 🙁

Simon has just ordered a new set of weighing scales for the house as they have wifi built in and will automagically detect who it is that is stood on them and then update their weight online, ready for analysis via the iphone / ipad / pc etc – pretty cool.  On top of this, he has ordered a FitBit Ultra wireless fitness pedometer that also monitors sleep patterns – all the above is put together and an iPhone app can be used to input foods intaken as well as gym sessions / bike rides accomplished to calculate where he is going wrong with either lack of fitness or too much food (or indeed both)….

Let’s see if this helps him shift a bit of lard… 🙂

Olly has tonsillitis AGAIN :-(

Mummy took Olly to the doctors this afternoon to have him checked over given the number of times that he has experienced high temperatures a few times recently.

Apparently he has tonsillitis again  and given the history the doctor suggested that we could compile a list of when he has been ill over the last few weeks / months / years together with symptoms etc.  That way we can go back in three weeks and present the details of the experience to see if it could help with a diagnosis of an ongoing issue that may need more work.

Maybe we are going to get somewhere in finding out if there’s something underlying that needs a resolution…

Bedroom build begins TODAY

We spent the weekend (BIG thanks to David T and to Greg) putting new electrical points in the bedroom and moving those that are already in there in preparation for today.  Sharps arrived at 8:15 this morning and have already commenced the mammoth task of building up the furniture that they delivered last Tuesday.  It will take 5 days and then we will be able to put the bed back in and begin the task of selecting a new bed, new carpet and re-decorating (groan).  David also helped Simon pop 16 Cat6e network cables in between the garage (computer centre) and the main loft area of the house ready to spider out into all the other necessary rooms etc – a job Simon has wanted to do for 4+ years now and should fully prepare us for the future – allowing us the possibility to put all AV equipment out in the garage leaving just TV’s and speakers in the rest of the house 🙂

Simon and Greg then spent 3 hours on Sunday with plaster board and plaster.  There is still some plaster and paintwork to be done in the room behind where the new wardrobes will be, so Simon is hoping that the last layer will be dry tonight so that he can complete the plaster work tonight and then hopefully the painting cane be done tomorrow night (fingers crossed).

We are also chasing the bathroom and kitchen folks this week as they are due to start here as early as next week – the house will be upside down for at least a month 🙁

We have Olly in to see the doctor this afternoon as his temperature issues are not getting any better although the symptoms are slightly changing.  His temperature once under control seems to suddenly just go out of control within 10 minutes – there used to be around 30 minutes to 1 hour of advanced notice.  Also, he is shivering now – not done that before really.  The Doctor that mummy and Olly saw on Saturday night (yes we had to go to the drop in centre) suggested that he just had a virus and that this was his body’s way of dealing with it – seems sensible until you think that this suggests he has a virus at least once a month.  In fact the doctor was actually pretty rude and in fairness uninterested it seems.  Daddy is left wondering if the guy thought that mummy just wanted Olly admitting into hospital for some reason…..

The end of the week sees us all travelling north to Claire and Mike’s wedding on Saturday – we are going in 2 cars since the DB9 is going to be used for the day.  Sadly it won’t easily fit onto Greg’s trailer so we are having to go 2’s up 🙂

The lurgy is in ‘da house :-(

Elliot complained of feeling cold yesterday while we were out at the park (with bikes), and this morning all 4 of us woke up feeling it – a nasty little cold that has almost knocked us all off our feet 🙁

So, we have had a pyjama day today

We also took delivery of all of the wood work etc for the new bedroom wardrobes etc from Sharps.  The fitter will be here on Monday next week in order to do the actual fitting work.  So, we have a busy week ahead of us as the existing flooring needs to come up (Greg and Tim helped us take the old fitted wardrobes out on Saturday) and the skirting boards need removal, painting and refitting.  We also need to fill the holes in the plasterboard that were left from the wardrobe removal and paint the back wall where the wardrobes used to be – we decided NOT to buy the backs to the wardrobes as that would have added a further 1000 UKP to the overall price.

Once the new gear is installed we need to redecorate the room and then arrange fr new curtains and carpet as well as a new bed and bedding sets etc. Crikey – much to do….
