Elliot’s parents evening tonight…

The boys had to stay in late lates tonight as it was Elliot’s parents evening and daddy managed to arrange to work from hom so that he could attend. We had managed to get an early appointment so that we could see Miss Price before taking the boys home for dinner and then to take them on to Martial arts.

Elliot is perhaps as we might expect getting on really well with his mathematics and his reading and spelling (he has scored 10/10 for every spelling test so far this year !!!! He needs to focus his efforts on practising his handwriting and also being brave in class in having a go at answering class questions – he has a tendency to not want to get involved unless he is super confident that he has the right answer πŸ™‚

We are super proud of his achievements to date and will be helping him with his handwriting practise and can only hope that his confidence continues to build as time progresses.

Oliver on the other hand is being somewhat of a devil at the moment – on the way home from school he caused problems in the car and ended up sitting in it for a while on the driveway by himself as we got home because his temper had got the better of him and he would not get out. So, following spending a little time to contemplate in his bedroom, we decided that he needed a little time with daddy 1:1 while mummy took Elliot to Martial arts on his own. Oliver is clearly struggling with his temper at the moment and we are trying to help him – although it is difficult at times when he is acting up in full flow πŸ™

Great afternoon avec les Drewetts :-)

We had a leisurely morning starting with swimming lessons this morning at the Ossett Academy pool. Then up to the Hare and Hound pub for a Sunday lunch with the Drewett family. A lovely lunch was had by all although we are glad we made it before 12:30 – got super busy in what seemed like no time :-). Finally we drove over to the Bretton / Yorkshire Sculpture park and all went for a lovely walk around the top section of the park. The last time we went to the park we came away unimpressed – largely (it now seems) because we went to the Erin part of it πŸ™ Today we experienced a whole different park that we all thoroughly enjoyed, with a renewed like for the place . Therefore we will probably go bak for a similar wander again sometime – today it was cold but bright which made for a great combination πŸ™‚

Back to school and work in the morning although it is a shorter week tho week in terms of Daddy being away – he comes back on Wednesday night this week πŸ™‚

Christmas fun in London booked for the kids :-)

Tonight we have sat down and figured out a cool plan for the kids for their first week of Christmas holidays.

We were already heading to Durham on Tuesday 17th (in the evening) to the Polar Express railway trip, but now we will head home right after that event. Daddy will head to work on the train as already planned and mummy will get in the car with the boys late morning and drive down to London. We will all stay in the hotel near daddy’s work where daddy will come out of work at 5pm and we will all walk over to the tube station and get a tube to Oxford Circus in order to make a visit to Hamleys. Then a cab over to Harrods and a tube out to Ealing Common. The final leg on Wednesday evening will be a London bus back to the hotel. at some point we will find somewhere to eat dinner etc

Daddy will go in to work on Thursday and mummy and the boys will enjoy a leisurely morning sleep in with a breakfast at the hotel. They will all then drive out to Windsor to LEGOLAND and will check in to the LEGOLAND hotel where loads of Christmassy stuff will be happening. Daddy will get the train out to Windsor on Thursday night for dinner etc returning to work on Friday morning via the same train line. The boys will get to ride on the LEGOLAND fun rides and then meet the jolly fat guy in the red suit πŸ™‚

Daddy will return to Windsor on Friday afternoon and then we will all drive home to Yorkshire.

On Saturday we then have the Santa Special on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway πŸ™‚

WHAT A WEEK !!!!! The kids will be psyched πŸ™‚

Rainwater collection recording back online…

Simon noticed that the ForkHall weather station was not recording rainfall and has not done so for over a month πŸ™

Today, he cleaned out e rainwater catching device (spider city) and set it back up again and it seems to be working again :-). In the mean time a new collector has been ordered (Β£5) just in case….

Shame it was not noticed earlier as October has been a particular wet month and none of it has been captured πŸ™
