Day 4 – end of play photos…

As usual, we start with the kitchen – work has commenced in the utility room today (so sadly that means that we have NO means of washing stuff up without using a bathroom 🙁

We di have a small challenge during the day that was basically we needed more of the laminate flooring in the kitchen AND downstairs bathroom if the work was going to look properly finished.  We were in luck with the kitchen as the local guy still had four boards – cost all of 5 UKP and now the job is done.  We were less lucky with the bathroom in that the flooring was discontinued some time ago and there are no more pieces left – so we have decided to replace the flooring in the small bathroom.  A deal has been struck with the company fitting the kitchen and they will fit it for a modest fee, leaving Vicky and Simon to just need to go and find the new flooring today (Friday)  Anway, onto the photos from last night…

March of the Penguins – Elliot’s class deliver in the St Hilda’s Chapel

This morning, we were lucky to be invited to a little play that the Reception class at St Hilda’s School put on for the rest of the school.  It was simply fantastic to see how well the whole school interact together in chapel and how the teachers actively encourage interaction and public speaking.  Mrs Forge did a fabulous job of involving the whole school in the stories and the children were really keen to get involved – the children from YEars 1 and 2 clearly remembered the story themselves somewhat fondly :-).  Each of the Reception class children had at least two pieces where they had to stand up in front of the school (and proud parents) and deliver lines to depict the story of the Artic and the Antarctic parts of the world.  Elliot did really well although was clearly a little put off by his brother and parents being in the room – that said we think he enjoyed putting on the show all the same 🙂

Day 3 – end of play photos…

So we start with the kitchen again:

So as you can see, pretty impressive progress has been made – now lets take a look in the house bathroom:

So there we have it.  As a side note, we have had the main bedroom carpet fitted tonight and it is sensational – the BIG 6ft wide bed is to be delivered tomorrow, so hopefully we will be back sleeping in the bedroom tomorrow night – that way IF (OK so when) Oliver joins us in the night, we won’t actually notice that he i in with us…. 🙂

Day 2 in the mad house…

The first day of renovations seemed pretty successful with the kitchen and house bathroom being cleared and then work commenced within the kitchen.  As it stands we have a few carcasses in place in the kitchen, although we have the project manager coming around to see us as we are not convinced that the actual build is following the plan that we agreed to some weeks ago – we will know more in the next hour or so we hope 🙂

The plan is to build out the base carcasses in the kitchen today apparently and to get the shower fittings and the bath into the house bathroom.

Simon is heading out later over to Warrington to have dinner with the old team as the EMEA guys are all in town for their annual Technical Conference – will be nice to catch up.

We are actually managing OK considering that we have lost the kitchen completely (although thankfully they have left the sink etc in the utility for now) and we are a bathroom down.  The kids ‘baths’ tonight will be interesting….  The dining room has become a kitchen albeit without a sink and fridge.  It is working out so far..
